Sooners are Jumps/Sprints school now. No time for XC/Distance
They had five transfer out, a few others graduated or quit and likely only brought in one or two freshmen (which don't seem to be listed).
Look no further than at their coaching staff.

They may as well just cut the mens XC team and save some dollars. Right now it seems pointless to continue to invest in a team that is a bottom feeder in the Big 12 and is getting beat at regionals by much smaller schools.
Pretty sure less than a decade ago Martin Smith and crew had them on the podium at NCAA.

Agreed, it was called a terrible hire last summer and has proved to be a bad hire a year later. They are lucky they aren’t competing this spring or they would be showcasing how bad they are this season.

That was OK State. And they won 3 titles in 4 years (and got second in their non-winning year).

Also that was coach Dave Smith, not Martin Smith.

No, “did” is right. Martin Smith (currently at Iowa state) used to coach at OU. They were a consistent top-10 team from 2010-2012

Someone type up a short list of Martin Smith's resume. Coached at Virginia, Wisco, Oregon, Oklahoma, and now Iowa State, and had significant success at every one of those schools. Funny that op had his facts right and the other poster got both the team and coach mixed up :)
I assume they all transferred to Clay Kicker Mayes Three's JuCo

Martin Smith is a high quality coach for the athletes that buy into his methods and coaching style.
He turned that Oklahoma program around. Lots of sub 14 guys on that squad, and after he left for Iowa State it just went downhill.
All the info below corroborates what I said earlier - but none of it answers why OKU's roster only has 4 people.

POTD hahahaha that guy is such a jack wagon.
In the absence of discipline, there's only chaos. Since Dunn left every single "kid" on that team had shrugged off the responsibility to keep that team at the national level. No leadership + no vision + excuses = the current OU team.
Saw that program rise from nothing.. sad to see it go extinct.
chill man, I know the difference between OSU and OU (Not OKU), and Martin and Dave Smith. I was going off memory and thought they had gotten a 4th place sometime during Martin's time there. Apparently they ONLY got 5th. Still a very far drop off from where they are now.
Hey buddy, you’re embarrassing yourself. It’s okay to admit you’re wrong sometimes.
This is exactly why I took the head coaching job at the university in San Antonio instead of ou or osu.
