Pau Capell runs a solo effort on the UTMB course in 21hrs trying to launch the new plated The North Face trail shoe, but fails at the record attempt. An effort like this should not be video taped. He basically walks the last 50km of the race, a total shell of himself, injured and limping and walking along after going out at 6:30/mi pace. This is not aspirational. Kudos for finishing in 21hrs+, which is damn legit and shows his consistency, but sort've proves that carbon plate shoes in trails are a joke concept and running more than perhaps 100km on super technical terrain is just stupid. The damage he did to his body after 15hrs will never be remedied. He has Zach Miller'd himself into retirement. This is what makes Walmsley so great, he can actually race past 50 miles.
