No Cheruiyot, no fast times. I would rather see Jacob work on his tactical races, anyway. Hopefully, less pushing/shoving and smarter positioning and kick timing. What he really lacks is a last 100 burst. Don't know if that can be developed.

So Wightman has recently run a massive 3 seconds faster than Kejelcha and Kejelcha has run 0.3 seconds faster than Gomez but somehow Kejelcha and Wightman are in the same class and Gomez is at a lower class??
Kejelcha is not in Wightmans range at 1500 rn but yes the guy with a 3:47.0i mile and worlds hardware (10K, 3k indoors) is in a different tier than Gomez who is a nice story at age 29 breaking through but come on....

I’m not 100% positive (and I’m too lazy to look it up); but I think Grice has a faster 1500 pr than Kejelcha.
So what?
I think it can help Jakob to have the pacers work for him and not for Tim. If they can bring him comfortably to 800m in 1:51 we may see something special.

Yeah, I think it would be interesting to see what he could do with pacers that are there for him and not Cheruyiot. If they can get him to 1100m in an evenly paced way, he can go sub 3:30 again.

Why is Timmy ducking him? Doesn't feel 100% and doesn't want to risk losing to young gun?
Or do the meet organizers/Team Ingrebridsten want him to pick up an unopposed win? Is it really probable that every potential legitimate competitor to Jakob in Europe doesn't want to race in this meeting (e.g. Wightman, Kejelcha, Cheruiyot)?
You are all over thinking it. Meet organisers have a limited budget for appearance fees and they spend it across all the events on different athletes who take their fancy. There is no reason that the 1500m field is assembled as it is, all events are almost random.
In this case, they spent the money on Mo Farah and the men's and women's 1 hour record attempts and the women's 1000m record attempt. The 1500m was an afterthought event and they won't have cared to get in the best pacemakers and set it up like a Monaco.
This sport is just about announcing you are going to run a record these days. Meet organisers don't care about the competition between athletes.
WR
I just hope they have enough time to put in enough cardboard people and sound machines.

Please! Do you really think a Belgian organizer will promote a Norwegian teenager holding out the World champion and best 1500m runner the last 3 years? Of course the organizers want the present the best field but apparently some of the top runners have chosen to stay away.
Timothy was - as far as I know - initially announced to run.
Wightman and Kejelcha were not running in DL Stockholm either.
I think Jakob can go under 3:30 if the pacemaking is fast and stable.
He doesn´t need help from Timothy. In Monaco he was not drafted for the first 1150m and did pretty well anyway.
Link to the meet to watch?
Never mind, didn't realize it was just the pole vault on the meet schedule.

This is a good point. Jakob was essentially the pacemaker for Filip and Wightman as I don't recall either taking the lead at all.

He was not initially announced. Yes this could be budget-related but I don’t think Wightman would necessitate much of an appearance fee for instance. Either way, it’s a very easy field.
Yes, it's a very easy field in which the top american won't end up in the top 5.

Timmy has skipped this one in order to plant some more potatoes.

Like the three brothers skip races to work on their salmon farm.
