This was pretty widespread in MA. In Boston they tied up the bball hoop nets with zip-ties.

Threads like this show why America leads the world. In infections and deaths. So far the equivalent of sixty "9/11's" in six months. Way to go guys.
Wearing a mask outside while running, biking, walking, etc. Someone seriously show me the science
and or a study that shows that anyone has spread or gotten this virus while outside exercising. I want to see it and I assume that all of the “I follow the science” people who also wear a mask while exercising outside can easily do this for me.
High school football teams tackling and hitting each other every play but if the defense touches the football, they have to get a sanitized one from the sidelines.
My family member who attended a Sunday worship service in Macon Georgia recently said those in the congregation hummed to the tunes with masks on because they were not allowed to sing and those leading the songs on the stage had to sing quietly.
I understand the reasoning for the above but others thought it was ridiculous. Trump events can have no masks, yelling, and no social distancing.
I'll just stream the service from home thank you very much especially as the person helping us at our local church to make sure were we sitting in every 3rd row insisted on coming right up to everyone within a foot or two. I really don't care for over an hour of indoor exposure if I can avoid it.

The no reusable grocery store bags one in California was pretty stupid. Glad that one has been lifted.
The reusable bag restriction is incredibly dumb
The grocery store checkout person is already touching all of your items that you just picked up at the grocery store
Why can they not help you pack your stuff in reusable bags or allow reusable bags depending on the restriction
It makes no sense because who handles reusable bags between visits. Most people just leave them in their car or let them sit idle for the week in between shopping
But regardless why would they be more apt to transmit the virus then simply your hands as you're touching and sharing all the items you just picked up at the grocery store. As well as possibly exchanging money or at least getting the receipt Etc
It's just one of those things that's comforting to human psychology but at the end of the day does zero to keep anyone safer
Blocking every other stall at work to social distance when pooping. Forces more people to use fewer stalls making them even more disgusting.

Have you read the office pooper thread?

The greatest show on Earth. A slow-motion track wreck on a national scale.

Because according to the tyrants, poop is completely safe, but invisible things that don't exist are dangerous.
Notice how you never really said that none of that could happen, you just started with name calling.
Trusting the government, be it a GOP or Dem controlled government is foolish. Both sides want power and money and they will use whatever is necessary as an excuse to get more of both. Look at what we gave up after 9/11. A GOP pres and congress created A WHOLE NEW GOVERNMENT DEPARTMENT DEDICATED TO SPYING ON US! And we all went along because we wanted to be "safe."

Crazy comparison! The whole tragedy of 9/11 was that it was a single events and it was mass murder perpetrated by people against other people
It also was all about creating Terror and uncertainty and totally unnecessary destruction
It's just a ridiculous comparison because the two events have nothing to do with each other and they're completely different
Definitely the Trump Administration downplaying the seriousness was a major mistake and major obstacle to a better reaction. And overall the anti-science sentiment is a real problem in the US as is a general level of contempt of evidence-based reasoning
But again comparing it to 911 is just very misleading...
Part of the reason why America leads the world in infections and death is because it is one of the most heavily traveled to countries in the world probably the most heavily travel too.... and we have generally speaking very few restrictions on travel
Also being a free society and being a very large Society it's much more difficult to quickly enact laws and regulations
And then just with the scale and size of the country it was almost impossible to do the tracing that smaller countries could do
Anyway I agree that there is a real problem with the lack of science understanding and evidence-based reasoning in our country
However specifically your comparison to 9/11 is just silly because it's a completely different type of tragedy
I mean why don't we just compared it to slavery or the internment of Japanese-Americans during World War II. Why don't we compared it to the oppression of women. Or Pearl Harbor.... because any such comparisons are just a distraction from a better understanding of what is going on
Kroger for one. 'This exit closed due to mask policy'. Surprised the fire inspector has not been called. Makes zero sense.
Lets only one entrance / exit and have everyone 1-2 feet from one another. Asinine
The point you miss is that they were both losses of American lives - unnecessarily. But many of you are quite blase about 180,000 dead from Covid - or even in denial about it. And it is far from over.

When the government puts restrictions, rules, laws, and practices in place for "your safety and the health and safety of the public" what can they NOT do?
That is why I am suspicious of all the restrictions. There is virtually nothing that they cannot justify under the guise of "public safety." From mass incarceration, confiscation of money and property, to out right violence, all of that could be justified and the masses would go right along with it.
Exactly. It’s a dry run for the leftists. They will be coming after your guns, your 401k’s, your ability to speak out against the leftist dogma ... it’s all coming soon.
Not just the Leftist, Trump just said he wants no evictions for 6 mo. So now landlords are supposed to just suck it up? Owning rental property is a legitimate business and the government is saying now that "due to Covid" you have to let people live in the properties you own, for free.
all covid rules are 100% tied for first.
for the virus strain is not particularly strong.
if a real virus comes along, there won't be any debate,
the hospitals next door will actually have patients in it.
and body bags stacking up to the sky.
it tis a paradigm of twits indeed.
We can have sports practices, unmasked, but all practices are limited to an hour. Not sure what good that does.
