If in peak shape, only Chelimo, Lomong, Fisher, and McGorty would scare Ches. Maybe Centro, Kincaid, and Hunter but their 5k resumes and projections are underwhelming after a soft 2020 season.
That's still a lot of guys. Chelimo's a lock to make the team. Lomong probably is too unless he decides to just go 10k. Even if you throw him out, that still leaves the other 5 you mentioned plus Ches fighting for 2 spots. And that doesn't even consider wildcards who could snag a spot on a good day in the right sort of race (Klecker? older guys like True, Hill, Mead, etc who might not be totally washed). Ches might be the best out of all those guys but it's still a lot of competition compared to the 10k, where he'd pretty much be a lock I think. Even the 1500 would probably be an easier team to make, depending on how well you think his indoor mile performance translates.
