Wait what? I thought California was following the science and had the strictest shutdown measures in the country. How is it that California has the most new cases and deaths? Is it all Trump’s fault?
Stanford wins the all-sports university award pretty much every year.
In 1984 USC hosted it's 2nd Olympics creating the 1st profitable Olympics ever, and the 1st Live World Wide TV Broadcast shown in every country.

what a disgrace. SC is #1 in R&D for undisclosed/unpublished US Military, Energy, Crpyto, dark Web, CIA, skunk works, space research. yet, they can't even obey their own scientists.
Your headline is a lie- it's cases not infections article below. There's a huge difference between cases and infections do you not know this? Cases means next to nothing and is simply being used to keep the fear going and hold people hostage. Infections and hospitalizations would mean something but since there aren't any the fear mongering profiteers and their media whores keep pimping "CASES."
Please learn the difference between a case and an infection.
USC reports ‘alarming increase’ in COVID-19 cases
https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-08-24/usc-increase-in-covid-19-cases
I believe that his or her point is that 40 something cases makes the headlines, about like in my country when there is a spike of 10 cases we all go crazy, the thing is, when the headlines are like this instead of 100 dead or 1000 cases it is good.
Get back to us when there's an actual death from CV-19 among the student population as opposed to asymptomatic cases.
100 years ago there was no sports industry. USC created the Sports industry we all take for granted today.

WTF are these people thinking. It's not like you can rejoin society without spread of germs.
If you can't stomach the thought of getting infected then stay locked down. If you want to start up things like schools COVID is going to spread and you just need to get used to it. This concept of open up until someone gets COVID then freak out is ridiculous. If your plan is to have in-person learning then you need to commit to having the fortitude to push on as people get COVID. If you do not have that fortitude then no in-person learning. Its pretty simple. You're not going to be the first place in the history of the world where there is no spread of germs.

Not all these cases will be asymptomatic. They were discovered in the first week of school and covid 19 has a few days incubation time.
The Feds must quickly secure USC home campus labs, and national security facilities at Marina Del Rey, Vandenberg AFB, US Space Force Command Palmdale, and hundreds of other critical labs operated by USC in Southern California.

Covid does not pose a significant threat to individuals under 25 years of age. Go to the CDC's excess deaths dashboard, select the weekly number of deaths by age and pull up the data for under 25 years of age. What you will find is it is at or below the five year average. You can pull up data for New York City, New Jersey, Massachusetts, etc. in the peak of the outbreak and it doesn't divert from the average.
https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/covid19/excess_deaths.htm#dashboardNot having in person classes or fall sports at colleges and universities is absurd.
In person classes are not particularly dangerous to most students, since most of them are under 25. Where it is dangerous is in spreading the disease to all parts of society rapidly. All of those students have friends and family; they go to stores, restaurants, parties, bars, family gatherings; they visit their grandparents; and they spread disease to older faculty and staff. That increases the COVID death toll and the hospitalizations are costly and difficult and can have long-lasting effects. Even college athletes have had a high share of myocarditis, heart inflammation, after COVID infection, which convinced the Big 10 to shut sports down until next year.
Natl Security is the biggest concern with USC.

Go back in your hole and come out in 8-10 years when the Covid scourge will be safe for you.
