There is absolutely no evidence that the opening up is the reason for the current spikes; if this was the case, NY would have major issues right now. The problem in the South is it is real hot now and more people are indoors in heavily air-conditioned buildings with air re-circulation;; this was not the case in Texas in the spring when everyone in the north east was huddle inside building recirculating the same dirty air. While places being open could have helped, there is no real evidence reopening is the cause. This is just a very bad assumption that has been made which does not line up with reopenings across the country.
