She won’t come close to Mary Cain’s 15:45 5k, she won’t break 9:00 in the 3K, and as 3200/2mile goes, she has a outside chance but I doubt it because without male pacers she has not shown anything close to being able to break a National record in a REAL RACE!!!!
So much for many records! In a race I would take Thorvaldson or Hutchins over her in the spring. They both are out performing her in CC this season already.
8:58 3k 15:39 5k. Records are going down. Cain and Tuohy will be forgotten.
Neglia certainly was impressive. However, she was noticeably thinner than she was as a HS senior, which was concerning. Not sure she will be able to maintain the kind of performance she had last week for long. Hope I'm wrong about this.

Time will literally tell! But Tuohy ran 15:37.x indoors as I recall so better adjust your sights.

LOL, she ran a 9:58 2-mile in 2019. The record is 9:53.
She didn't even get a full season last year in track, and came back from an injury in XC, Yet, besides her 9:39 time trial, she still posted an official 4:50 / 9:58 last year earlier in the short season with easy wins. So much for not showing anything, LOL.
As for XC, she literally opened up with a 16:25 5k. The 2nd fastest girl in her heat ran 18:20, and has prs of 4:52/10:48. The next fastest girl (in a different heat) was one who finished 37th at NXN last year, and has run 4:55/10:30 (17:53).
Neither of the other two girls have shown anything as "outperforming" Brown at this point. If anything, Hutchin's 16:36 was similar enough to Brown. For the record, the fastest boy at the meet Brown ran finished in 15:32, and he ran 4:20 for the mile & 8:45 in the 3000m for last years short season.
That name of yours will look even sillier in a year than it does now.
The two mile record is Cain's 9:38.68. The 9:58 at the Brooke's Invitational was a nice effort, although 3rd in that race to Vanderlande and Hart. Realistically the 2 mile record will only be touched on a very fast track in a pro race. It's the one that got away.
The 5K you are talking about is the same short course in which she ran 16:12 last year, in which according to the Texas commenters was only about 3.01 miles or over 600 feet short. Which is why it speed rated at only 157. The 16:25 actually got a better speed rating, 158, but that rating is again indicative of a short course.
I would be interested in a separate event called a "time trial" on a certified track and distance under uniform rules. Maybe with different categories such as assisted or unassisted, etc. . It at least has the virtue of being pandemic friendly. But absent any comparable real race performances and it is just apples and oranges.
Still the season such as it is is still young. Hopefully she hits the type of speed ratings or official track times to warrant the enthusiasm. Then again it is nice to boost a runner from your region. Has Texas ever had a national champion? Fingers crossed that Footlocker goes forward.
That 9:38 was the indoor record. Yes, it's the fastest, but the outdoor record is still 9:53? That's what I was talking about, and believe is a realistic one to be broken.
Speed ratings are just... speed ratings. That "5k" from last year is not the same as this year, first of all. Depending on who you ask measuring the course, it was certainly longer this year I can tell you that. This was also on day where weather was actually pretty good to run in Texas. If that doesn't convince you, times were much slower this year for everyone on average, including returnees, even already considering the fact that the teams competing this year were different (and the races as well). Regardless, I mentioned this to respond back @ the other poster claiming Brown was basically performing behind the other two girls.
If you want time trials on the track... well, there are some races ran on the track this year in TX:
5k @ Bridgeland

SLC had a solid showing, with 8 @ 9:50 and under. Grapevine also looking like a potentially interesting team next year.
https://tx.milesplit.com/meets/391658-southlake-3200/results/700751/formatted#.X3OusWhKguUA national champion? Yes.
Reed Brown won Footlocker in 2016.
Craig Lutz & Reed Connor won NTN.
Chelsey Sveinnson & Rachel Johnson won NXN (although, 2nd at FLNats for both).
No girl has ever won FLNats from TX, though.
I think the outdoor 2 mile record is 9:51. Not sure if that is an actual 2 mile time or a converted 3200 time.
Speed ratings are flawed but useful tool. But I would not put too much stock in them this year. Racing is too sporadic.

2 mile record is 9:51 outdoors by Brie Oakley at Brooks PR

Grapevine has a solid chance at NXN next season if it happens
3k, 3200, 2 mile, 5k. And it is "you're". Your D2 education is showing.
FWIW Milesplit reports it as a "3 Mile" event, which would be more consistent with the lower than otherwise expected speed rating of 162.

Doubters beware. She will set every high school record this spring.

All the events there have been 3 miles or less not sure why they picked this one to record as 3 miles....
Brown is somehow down to #3 in the Milesplit 50
Milesplit rankings in general seem way off to me - Dyestat is usually better for these.
