Why does ‘King’ Klecker, the face and focal point of the newly minted OAC keep getting beaten by his sidekick? Mile, 1500, 5k, doesn’t matter. I thought he was in 13:0x shape? I thought the group was built around him? Does Olli Hoare have a logo?

Give it a year. Klecker will have better PRs than Hoare in everything. He is a much better runner. Only a cheesehead would think otherwise. The sponsors know who is best.
Results to which you are referring?
I’ve never seen so much hype around someone who hasn’t run a single internationally competitive time. Not one.
Zero NCAA titles. ‘King’.
Hoare is legit.
Because Klecker will be a brilliant marathoner one day. I understand why he's running 1500's and Mike's at the moment, but in a couple of years, he will move up to the marathon and run 2.07.
Ollie Hoare is really good and has had a stellar season. Klecker had a solid college career and has good potential in the 5000.
Maybe just leave it at that?
Who has the most upside is irrelevant.
Fact 1. Hoare has beaten Klecker heads up in BOTH races thus far plus a time trial.
Fact 2. According to the interview on LR the program was built around Klecker
Fact 3. Klecker needed to approve Ritz before he was offered the job.
The above facts are not sustainable for a long term development program.
Upside is very relevant. That is why Klecker got a bigger contract than Hoare. So Klecker is better than Hoare because as adults and professionals, salary is what matters.
What do you think their salaries are?
$50k and $30k.
Never seen a team constructed this way with a very specific and expressed hierarchy. Especially given the fact that the ‘centerpiece’ of the team has an extremely mediocre resume. Should be a huge deal that he is 0-3 out of the gates to one of his hand selected serfs.

Do you really think the group was built around Klecker? If anyone, the group is built around Alicia Monson...the most world class athlete on the team. However, it is built for all of them, a very young and promising squad. Leah O'Connor is about a year away from being a great miler/steepler again. She had been hurt for a long time the previous few years and is finally getting some oompf under those legs!
Also, are you really shocked Hoare can beat Klecker in a slow race?
Klecker potential marathoner and American, Hoare much better athlete, but less marketable. Simple.

Did you read the interview with Steve D (the head of marketing for ON)? He specifically said that he built the group around Klecker and that Klecker had the final say on who was going to coach the group. I agree that Alicia is the best athlete but that is not how the group was built. I thought it was a ridiculous statement at the time and a horrible way to start a group with a vision of long term success.
Sounds genius to me. Ever review his pedigree? He is destined for greatness.

2:07 means a career running for 8th-12th place. You need to be 2:04-2:05 to even be in the mix for podiums. If 2:07 Is his ceiling, he's a domestic runner
Ed Cheserek, the former "King"?
Yes. If you think only podium condenders are sponsored, 90% of people would lose their sponsorship today.
Hoare is an NCAA champ, Klecker is not. It shouldn't be a shocker that Hoare can beat Klecker.
But if you're upset because Klecker gets more attention, maybe it's because they are very similar levels (Hoare only beat him by a small amount in this 5k) and Klecker is actually from the country that the training group is in. If the roles were reversed, and Klecker was slightly better but the training group was in Australia, Hoare would probably get more attention there.
Anyway, they seem to be very good training partners for each other since they're at similar levels right now. I don't think this race brought out their max current potential, with them mostly pushing the pace and the fastest guy in the race, Ches, was just sitting around. In the right race I think they could be sub 13:20 right now. Next year I wouldn't be completely shocked if they could hit the olympic 5k standard of 13:11 or whatever it is. That doesn't mean Klecker will make the team, though. Seems now you have to be a 13 flat type guy to probably make it. Chelimo, Kincaid if he's ready, Lomong if he doubles, Centro if he decides to bump up, then the huge group of guys like Jenkins, Hill, True, Bor, Erassa. Lots of guys that would be at the same level or better than Klecker if he runs 13:11. I even forgot the recent runs of Fisher and McGorty.
