It'd be nice to see Sage Canaday congrulate SJD but it would never happen. He's too jealous and out of shape.
Pretty sure Sage claimed Seth wasn’t going to run sub 2:19 for the marathon last year so for sure knows about the guy.
Sage was running in Manitou Springs within a stones throw of the race this morning. Weird that he would back out of the race only to drive to Manitou for a 16 mile training run.

Will Seth come back next year to defend his title, likely with more competition?
Last year was the most competitive ever with all the international hotshots , and yet Seth's time today would have been 2nd place finish behind Kilian .
If Jornet doesn't show up next year then its Seth's to lose.

Actually 2018 was even more competitive (albeit winning time "only" 3:32 but several more under 3:35 and 3:40, respectively).
Walmsley at PPM? Good question and I'm sure most of us would love to see it. Having run it and being built more like JW than KJ, I would suggest it favors climbers over descenders in certain ways. Obviously the 7,800' climb to 14k, but more specifically, you can't quite bomb the descent in the same manner you can in some other races such as Imogene Pass, Kendall Mountain, etc... First of all, no shortage of rocks and other minor obstacles to chop up your stride. Second, you're dodging the entirety of the rest of the field if you're leading (you going down, them coming up) on a trail. Lastly, the last 3ish miles down (and first up of course) are frustrating - incredible number of switchbacks (like every 50-75 meters), and surrounded by what I refer to as the "tourist" fences - log fencing on each side of the trail (to keep tourists from falling off what has to be the tamest 14er trail in the state, hilarious). So it's nearly impossible to bank/body-English the turns, which really hampers a long-striding person from stretching it out. It's the same for everyone of course, but from my perspective the course favors a more compact body type than long/lean. It's no surprise to me the top times in history have been run by such types - Carpenter, Mejia, Jornet, etc...
Good post D1-er, great to have your informed opinion.
To the guy saying Sage will be put out over this, I dont think so. I've seen the two guys interact on Strava (Sage sent congrats after Seth beat one of this FKTs) and also on YouTube Sage commented on Seth's page to thank him for the Pikes Peak footage last year.
They are very different personalities so will never be friends but there is mutual respect there, and given their similar abilities in both road marathons and MUT races they are sure to cross paths in the future . Should create a bit of hype and excitement amongst the youtube community which is good for the sport
Hopefully, Seth doesn't let the win go to his head and pulls the pro golfer route and trades his wife in for a blonde hottie. If he stays focused, sheds a few extra pounds and runs on "Pure Hate" he might cut a few minutes from his time.
If Killian races next year and does some training runs with Matt Carpenter and follows Karen Carpenter's recipe book to get a little lighter, then lookout for the possible fall of Matt's records.
If Jim Walmsley gets over the fake Covid race shutdown hoax of 2020 and starts training seriously then we're going to have quite a race.
If Sage starts adding some In & Out hamburgers to his diet and cuts down on the canoodling with coach Sandy to get his mind focused then he might be able to improve his time from last year.
You just can't get this kind of race advice from normal sources.
Sage made some video about him dropping due to COVID reasons then proceeds to go to the race to film?? WTF? Doesn't make sense. If you're really afraid, stay home.

Anyone know why they deleted the Pikes Peak livestream? They say it’s due to copy right issue. What could that be?

Yikes! I saw her blood on her knee on some finish line footage and wondered....

Faster than Sage's time last year!
you got that right, Sage Canada PB at Pikes Peak is 3:39 so there is no excuse for Canada this time!

Sage was affraid to losing to another youtuber and his subscribers would go away
I agree. An un-sponsored YouTuber none the less.
