I believe he was 3rd overall. Nice run after that 4:01 last week.
Official results now in, Rheindardt took 6th.
Here is a post-race article:

56 last lap?!
I thought the purpose of this race was for him to latch on to the train by running 60s then hope to dip under 4:00 at the end.
Instead, it appears he went thru 3 laps in 3:06 - 3:07 then smoked lap 4 but too little, too late.
All in all, RH certainly did not come out of nowhere.
But, coming 2 months after running a 4:09 mile in AZ, his 4:01 at MCDC certainly did.
let's hope he doesn't follow in the footsteps of his girlfriend Grace Ping
He will move on to a fast girl.
A good review of his races
Geez, it's mid September. Let this poor kid have a cross country season with his teammates.
Interview with Chris Farley and Julie Culley:
He says Tinman told him last summer he would go sub 4 as a sophomore.

yet another case where tinman was wrong?:) Seriously anyone else want to see this kid run a 2 mile? I think I would almost be disappointed with an 8:40......
What time is the race? I predict sub 3:59

High schooler just a week or so into his junior year and my reaction is that a 4:08 mile means he bombed.
This is so unfair and untrue but he has already set the bar that high.
I hope to keep watching this kid develop. He certainly is not afraid to put it out there and go for things.
You can watch his race from tonight here:
He ran 4:08.56,

For sure “bombed”. I don’t know this kid but running 4:01 about a month ago and then a 4:08. Yikes. I said this earlier but this obsession with the sub 4 mile is really destructive to these kids careers. As much as Tinman preaches long term development, I’m just not seeing it

Definitely. Tinman inflates their egos by promising them they are going to break records. He even said Tinman told him he'd be sub 4 as a sophomore. Then Tinman works them VERY hard for their age. They are age group stars like Aidan Puffer or Grace Ping that fail to develop.
Even Drew Hunter's career has been a disappointment so far. He lucked onto the world championship team via a 5th place finish at USATF championships. But Tinman botched the training and got Drew injured.
Eh, I think it’s a little early to call Drew burnt out. Didn’t he graduate high school in 2016? If so this would be his 5th year and he’s run 3:36 and 13:22 I think.
I did see his time trial results and they weren’t amazing, but coming back from a stress fracture is a rough process.
I will say it makes me a little suspicious that basically all you hear about of tinman training is CV and hill reps (Which in theory is pretty sound base phase for a 1500 runner) yet he has high schoolers running extremely fast and now has a bunch of “sub elites” That he actually trains, and I hate that phrase.
I know correlation doesn’t equal causation but there’s something fishy here I think. Either tinman training is much harder than it’s made out to be, or this guy has got his hands on multiple future superstars. One of these is much less likely than the other.
I think it's fair to say most of us had higher expectations for Drew Hunter, even in the short term, than he has achieved so far. He was the 3rd fastest high school miler in US history and has been a pro training at altitude for 4+ years. I think if he changes coaches, he'll immediately start to run faster times.
I know exactly what Tinman does. He has high schoolers run challenging, but not crazy miles. But he has them do a workout every other day. There were interviews with Drew Hunter in high school where he would say he wasn't taking any time off in between seasons. So the high schoolers are never resting. The combination of pretty high mileage and non-stop workouts at a young age is not good for long term development.
Additionally, Tinman knows NOTHING about speed and strength training. In high school it's really important to be doing a lot of speed and strength to develop fast twitch muscle fibers sooner. All his athletes hit plateaus because they lose speed from only doing tempo and CV work.

The kid was racing half marathons at age 10 so it is not like he is a newcomer.
impressive!!
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
