Let's get real for a moment.
...The biggest loss was suffered by your mom when you were born.
pretty impressive. when brazier took the lead in the last 200?, hoppel went with, and was actually gaining on brazier all the way to the line.

You're taking his loss rather hard I see. That's okay. There's always his next race.

Hoppel ran the perfect tactical race. Got out hard and smart. On the backstretch of lap #2 he surged to prevent being passed. After that, he bided his time to pass Arop and stalk Brazier. It's a credit to how good Brazier is that he won despite running almost the full final turn in lane 2. Great performances by both in their first race off the plan. Some reasons to think even Hoppel can go faster, and Brazier definitely so.
Hoppel ran a great race..
Brazier needed a faster 1st lap and that would have taken the kick out of Hoppel
Hellooooo! You play to win the game!!
What are the odds that he medals in Tokyo?
Very high. He was 4th in 2019 after a marathon of indoor and outdoor track in the NCAA. His consistency is key, Amos is all over the place.

I would think higher than Brazier. Seems Brazier has peaked and may never run under 1:43 again. Bryce is still getting better and is a better racer to boot. Hoppel is the US gold medal hope.
2 US medals would make me very happy.
Thoughts on
Gold Brazier
Silver Amos
Bronze Hopper

Lol Brazier is like 23 and runs a clearly non perfect first race for 1:43 low... “may never go under again”
Excellent race. A full 1.00 second PR in his first race in 6 months. For whatever reason the rest of the 800 world seems weak right now. Amos has no consistency, Korir is MIA, the rest of the field nearly a full second behind Hoppel.

That whole Ereng crew has mysteriously gone to the side. Nothing suspicious about that in the least.
Who is coaching Hoppel now?
I believe he’s staying with his KU coach and training out of there.
