The reason old jokes don't work as well anymore, is because the humor is an ancient ancestor of modern jokes. The punchline usually leaves me with a "yes, and...?" feeling.. Kind of like if I ate something that a neanderthal insisted was very very sweet. "Bro, have you heard of pixie stix??"
Something tells me you're a swell guy at parties
so? 167000 people past the average life expectancy isn't a big deal.

Yeah, I have a keen, evolving sense of humor and I tend to work a room pretty well.
Not like whoever wrote that joke, scratch that, whoever repeated that joke they heard.
Infection fatality rate is 0.6%. Out of 1,000 infections, 6 people will die.
1.3% for ages 60 to 69.
4.6% for ages 70 to 79.
25% for age 80 and over.

Sweden reached herd immunity with 570 deaths per million. That means for round number .06% of the population died of COVID.
If you go on the low side and say 50% of their population had it then that would mean the IFR is .12%. Even in a very unhealthy population like the US where it could be 1.5X more deadly that is still below .2% IFR. People greatly underestimate the asymptomatic spread that has occurred. This has hit a huge percentage of the population already.
You stop idiot. Quit wasting your time here and get back to streets rioting and promoting justice and assaulting police. You are woke. Its true. Now focus and channel your wokeness.

Sweden has not reached herd immunity. So the rest of your post is useless.
An incredible amount of misinformation is propagated about COVID-19, usually by right-wingers who like to pretend it isn't a serious disease.
I don't understand why right-wingers do this, but somehow in their minds the disease is linked to political issues.
Their emotional allegiance to political positions hijacks their understanding of the facts, their logical faculties, and their moral sense.
+1000, and this garbage site run by garbage people supports fringe right wing misinformation at every turn.

Agreed. So far, Sweden stands as one of the great failures in the COVID-19 saga, with one of the highest death rates in the world, and coming nowhere near anything resembling herd immunity.
https://medicalxpress.com/news/2020-08-covid-herd-immunity-sweden-materialize.htmlI rarely check back on this site these days. It's dispiriting to see the same people making the kinds of false claims that they were asserting months ago.

Hahaha, the Liberal Mob doesn't like it when you use facts. The only arguement presented was that antibody tests have not shown Sweden to have reached herd immunity. Which can easily be debunked since many people do not develop antibodies that can be detected by the test and most of those who do will lose them within 2 months. The Liberal mob also doesn't understand that a lack of antibodies does not mean you are not immune. The cases and deaths have surely dropped because Sweden changed course and implemented a South Korean style lockdown and use of masks. Oh wait they didn't, and they never shut down schools, and most of the population never work masks.
The discussion surrounding lack of antibodies and whether lasting immunity existed because we've known for years that people who had SARS are immune over a decade later with no antibodies thanks to their T-Cells.
Right. That happened. I totally believe you.

+1
Definitely most everyone is underestimating asymptomatic spread. And Sweden appears to have gotten the last laugh:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8607731/amp/Why-Sweden-pilloried-world-refusing-lock-having-laugh.htmlDaily Mail graph in link appears to show US has 60 000 daily cases per 100 000!!!
Incidentally, doctor friends of mine, in COVID response hospitals say; dont be fat, old or otherwise seriously unhealthy. Its that simple.
But of course you might be unlucky, or run over by a bus.
Yeah.
My doctor said in 100 years almost all of us will die. I was shocked. That’s over 7 billion people.

Sweden kept primary schools open, but closed senior schools (HS and middle) and colleges. Seroprevalance testing is the best indication of how wide spread the virus is in a community. Testing in Sweden was done close enough in time to their outbreak that it would give a good picture of how widespread their outbreak was.
Sweden does not have herd immunity. The latest tactic of the COVID deniers is to move the goal post on herd immunity. Herd immunity is a level of immunity in a community that effectively prevents spread of a virus without any other measures in place. For coronavirus, that is probably about 70%. Now, the COVID deniers are pointing out the fact that immunity does impact the trajectory of an outbreak. This is Farr's Law and has been known about pandemics for over a hundred years. But that immunity is not herd immunity. And Farr's law is not purely the effect of immunity. It also reflects people's response to a virus. Even in the 1800s, people understood that you could get sick by coming into contact with sick people and would isolate the sick. We know that Farr's law is not herd immunity because we often see multiple waves in an outbreak. So, the immunity that helped contain an outbreak does not prevent a second one.
Sweden is still seeing @300 new cases a day. Much of the recent decline in cases is more than likely due to the long summer vacations Swedes take by going to summer vacation homes in the mountains. The fall will be a different story.
Great your idiot family physician told you his opinion. Case closed. I can sleep well again at night thanks. I also have a chiropractor that will adjust the covid out of you.

So the summer holiday is the reason why deaths have steadily declined since April?

You show your ignorance with this absolutely unqualified statement. NO ONE, even top researchers, currently know with any certainty what the threshhold for covid-1984 herd immunity is and who has reached it or not. I personally suspect that Sweden has attained it (certainly they had ideal conditions for doing so), but it will be 9 months minimum before we can state either way even as a good guess, much less the blithering certitude which you evidence here.
You have no scientific insight or training and are posting worthless tripe.
