The legacy of racism is not the problem. If we pulled down every monument, or changed the name of every state, city, street related to the era of slavery or defunded police, do you really think that would change the behavior of Chicago looters, drug dealers, and criminal gang members? Do you think that would change the frequency of black on black killings?
If you do, you are blind to the actual truth that needs to be addressed. Amazing that some people refuse to look inside themselves. But I think many blacks who live in neighborhoods that are under the siege of internal wars are beginning to see this and are starting to speak out.
The real problem is the lack of family structure, the lack of teaching self responsibility and discipline, the dependence on welfare and other government subsidies, the perpetuation of the sense of being a victim and therefore justifying violent criminal behavior, the rampant drug use and subsequent drug trade. Just to name a few of the real reasons.
There are so many successful black men and women in this country. While not all, I often find that most of these people had some kind of guiding family structure in their life, even if their family was not well off economically. The teachings were much more important than economic class of their upbringing.
