Seen a couple of the threads lately criticizing 'high' volume. People making claims that it's not possible or finding a magnitude of excuses as to why they "can't" put the work in.
I'm gonna say if you dedicate 10-12 hours to running per week, you'll get pretty damn good at it. 10-12 hours is not a lot. There'll be people saying why 10-12 hours and i'd answer that a lot of runners will cover 100 miles per week in that time but that's not the main point. The point is that it's a good amount of time to dedicate to the sport that you compete in. Even if you don't hit that magic 100 miles that a lot of people seem so obsessed with, yet claim they could never do that each week.
At the moment, the majority of runners are just not willing to put the time in. Lazy? Less interested than those who came before them? Trying to over complicate everything instead of going out there and putting the time in?
And i'm not talking about mass participation and those who just run for a bit of fun. i'm talking about those people who want to be good/competitive, yet are not prepared to put the effort and keep kidding themselves that they're doing enough.
Why do you think this is... Discuss.
