Any inside info on CIM going off??
Any inside info on CIM going off??
I’ll help you out: no
Not looking good. So far every big race in CA in Sept and October, as well as some in November are cancelled. If you register you can defer to next year, but I wouldn't make travel plans just yet.
In a state where the mayor of the biggest city just declared he can turn off our water at private residences if he doesn't like the occupants private social gatherings? Take a wild guess.
Or the state where a governor will fine business owners for opening but release 14,000 felons due to Covid risk.
Why don’t they call it now then?? Instead we book airfare and point towards an event for nothing?
Not going to happen

I'm sure they'd like to hold it. Its likely the city of Sacramento hasn't pulled permits yet. The race is small fries for city government types and they probably won't pull the permit until the fall. 4 months out is kind of early. I don't think these decisions should be made until a month out. I applaud CIM for saying they won't scam people and not doing the lazy thing and just cancelling months and months out. Come up with a back up plan. I think there is a marathon in delaware in december lol.

CIM is going with an approach of planning as if the race will take place, but also saying up front that they can’t guarantee anything. Part of their current PR involves encouraging runners to train, use sponsor products, etc.
It’s smart marketing but also more than a little misleading. There is not way CIM will go off in its usual form.
I am registered for CIM this year. I am going to start training for it next week knowing it very likely will be canceled. I hope they have a final decision by end of September so I can redirect my priorities to other things if it is canceled.
No it's not going to happen.
Just like the last time it was posted: no.
This might be the 11th thread asking this. Every time the answer has been NOOOOOOOOO
There’s about a 3% chance of it happening IMO.
Too bad our government here allowed mass gatherings in protests but not running races.

I'm sure Q will reveal himself at any moment and bail you out. You hold out hope patriot!!!
If they can just hold off on canceling until Nov 3 they might still be able to run it once the hysteria dies down.
CIM is looking at all options to hold the event. Possibly allowing for an "all day" race. Runners would start in small groups throughout the day to spread people out.

Why not? Its been done before for other events elsewhere. Which is going to make the city more tax dollars - a december day or a lot of people coming in for the race?
