Engels and Rowbury in the men's 1500 and women's 5000? Looks like some politicking was done to get them in on the coattails of Brazier. Neither of them are gonna be factors in their races.

Happens all the time. Should J Lyles be in the meet?
Well no sh*t there's not as stacked of a field. look outside for once
A crime that Moh Ahmed, Shelby Houlihan, and Karissa Schweizer are not running the 5000m in this meet. What is Jerry thinking? Klosterhalfen hasn't yet shown 14:20s shape this year. Nor has Craig Engels shown 3:34 shape. Maybe he can do it here. Having Kejelcha in the 1500m is akin to what Salazar did with Mo Farah, but a real shame for that 5000m, which he could at top form really push, as he did in the last circuit 5000m to go in the 12:40s. Are the Ethiopians not in the men's 5 to help Cheptegei get set up for a record attempt? Kejelcha might actually help that attempt. Also, this indicates again that dropping the 5000m from the Diamond League was a bad idea. The 5000m is among the premier events and an actual medal event.

I guess non of them wanted to risk breaking the unofficial team rule of racing in a Diamond League meet before a global championship in a global championship year.
Jerry does realize the Olympics are cancelled right?
depressing seeing no american men in 1500 or 5000

With the travel bans etc. the organizers are probably happy to fill up the fields. Furthermore, even in top seasons DL races like 2017 or 19, there must be some people on ranks 8-12 in a race and often none of them were contenders for top 6. Very rarely will there be a race 1500m or longer where almost everyone could be a factor or compete for the top ranks.
The problem is pacing. More than likely no pacer will hang at WR pace more than 6 laps

Engels's PB is 3:34? Hasn't he been the big US star the past couple years?
This is what you get when all these fans go on and an about how they like "championship runners," then that's all their country ever produces. And they're kidding themselves that it makes them likelier to win a champs anyhow vs the faster runners. Maybe if they go 3:50 or something.

The organisers are always happy to just fill the fields. That is athletics.
The Diamond League doesn't have any structure to it. Each race is a random assortment of athletes.
Professional athletes are only forced to compete against eachother in the world's or Olympics. Rest of the time they can dodge and duck competition.

11 in the 800m!? Not much social distancing then?

Maybe they wouldn’t be traveling to Europe if not in a club with Brazier, but yours is a bad take. It’s as if everyone forgot about Engels’ breakthrough year in 2019–you know, when he finished top-5 in 3 Diamond League 1500/miles, won USAs over Centro, made the WC final and set very respectable PBs of 1:44.7/3:34.0. Sure he “only” managed 3:36.0 at the Big Friendly 3, but it’s not like that’s not good for 6th in the world currently. Rowbury, if you’ve forgotten, has made the last 3 Olympic 1500 finals, has a WC bronze, has won 2 DL races in her career and is the former AR-holder at both 1500 & 5k. She may be getting a bit long in the tooth but appears to be in great form this season, which not everyone can say given the circumstances.
I’m excited to see them race and I expect they’ll mix it up. I won’t be remotely surprised if they both place 5th-6th in 3:34/14:45 respectively.
Men's 800m/1500m, and women's 5000m are STACKED. Obviously Monaco always puts together top notch fields, but I worried travel restrictions and athletes wanting to take a down year would water down the fields. Apparently not in some cases.
Men's PV and women's 1k also has very solid fields
