Have a colleague in Prague and might visit him. The city seems like if offers pretty good bang for the buck.

Huh?
Not far from Ukraine
Prague is a beautiful old city full of interesting things to see, one of my favorite places I’ve visited. It’s usually full of tourists, but I imagine less so now during the pandemic, which I realize you don’t believe in. You will find it much less expensive than the US. I’m not sure you can get in or out from the US right now without a two week quarantine. I don’t remember but imagine that very little English is spoken except in the main tourist areas.

Exactly.

Yes, Americans can't travel to the Czech Republic at the moment for tourism or business. Travellers from most other European countries are just being waved through, so I don't know if he could visit via one of them, but I think Americans aren't allowed in to most or all of the EU currently.
Foreign tourism is way down, but the main spots are still packed, only with more Czechs and Germans and such like, and fewer drunk British stag party groups (although they are already returning).
Things are almost as normal here aside from face masks still compulsory on the metro. There is not even any social distancing anymore, although cases are going up so things might change.
This isn't the Ukraine - GDP per capita overtook Spain this year (before the lockdowns). Czechs have the highest standard of living in Eastern Europe and one of the fastest growing economies. Prague is much wealthier than the rest of the country. Also the local men are much more civilized and better looking than Ukrainian men, so Czech girls don't really need to look outside their social circles. The best thing was that there are thousands of Ukrainian women studying and working here, often English taught courses at the Charles University, but a lot of them are back home presently.
Yes, Prague is very beautiful, almost untouched by the war. Built by Germans and made famous by a Jew (Kafka).

Watch a few episodes of 90 Day Fiancee. Particularly the ones with Lana and David.
I’ve been to a number of Eastern European countries, but there are still a bunch on my list of places to visit. Over the past five years we’ve been to Ukraine, Albania, Croatia, Bosnia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovenia. We’ve also been to Poland and Czech Republic, but maybe 8-10 years ago. We were supposed to visit Estonia in May, but that got $hit canned obviously. When things quiet down we will try to get to Slovakia, Bulgaria, Romania and MAYBE (no promises, I am prejudiced against them from past military experience) some other Balkan nations.
It’s possible these days to travel relatively freely between Schengen countries, although some restrict visitors from some countries or require tests. Over the last month I’ve run (or walked all day) in Italy, Finland, Iceland, Belgium and France. Most places have been gloriously light on tourists which is a welcome change for tourists but not for tourism businesses obviously.
I've been to prague and it's ok, they speak english just fine but it's kinda boring tbh. but the females are daannnkkkkk hot, and uhhh... not super difficult huehuehue.
1 trip there is worth it but after that tell your colleague to relocate to berlin
Are you a u.s. citizen? Howd you get into Iceland?
I was hoping to go. Even had a flight booked. Anyways. I wound up getting into other parts of Europe and was curious if a flight via Europe wouldn't have me pass border controls, but didn't want to risk it.
Thanks!
Read my books. Visit my house.
At heart, Jamin, you are a dung beetle.
Thanks for the info!
It is cheap, but there are lots of touristy scams (e.g. at currency exchanges, taxis, the “weed” shops) and various rip-off schemes (e.g. at some ATMs w/exorbitant fees or Poor exchange rates, and inflated touristy prices). Since you have a local connect, you’ll likely be able to avoid this stuff. Lots of great places, many just a few blocks away from the tourist traps.
It was the most tourist-overrun place I've ever been. Now's a great time to visit if you can!

Citizenship is unimportant, so far as I know, but check their immigration website to be sure. I am not a US citizen, but also not European. I am a European resident though. If you can get on a flight to Reykjavík, when you land you have to either commit to 14 day quarantine, which obviously doesn’t work for normal tourist stays, or else pay to be tested in the airport. It’s all very well organized and efficient. If you plan to stay ten days or more you have to get a second test in days 4-6.
You do realise this message board isn't Geolocked to the US? There is a world outside of your shitshow of a country.

This. But I was there over the May Day holiday and it was the most crowded place I have ever experienced and I've spent a shiite-load of time in China during their big holidays. That old town square area was just unbearable. Gotta be much better now.
Best running spots are:
- Letenska Park - there is a gravel loop here that is great for workouts
- Stromovka Park - very large park with lots of paths; great for a long run
- Along the river - paths aren't particularly nice but you'll get good views and see a lot of the town
I am well-traveled in the big cities of Europe and Prague is my favorite. The best part of it is just walking around the city and seeing all of the sights. Also very cheap and no open container laws - I recommend stopping at the monastery by Prague Castle and grabbing a beer to go.

It's an amazing place, with about 10% of it ridiculously overrun with tourists and safely avoided for the most part, but there's plenty of other places to explore.
You'll hate it though and complain about it endlessly because that's what you do about everywhere and everything.
