only 3 years older than brazier. He has run 1:41. He has to be the favourite next year, right?

Amos only runs 1:41 every seven years. First as an 18 year old, then at 25 - we have to wait until 2026 before he does it again at 32.

Has to be the funniest post by Coevett. Hardly ever agree with him but this made me chortle.
actually he's gone that fast in every single olympic final he's been part of + a non championship race

Coe only runs 1:41 every fourty years. First as an 24 year old, next will be at 64 - than we have to wait until 2061 before he does it again at 104 for the 3rd time.
Think Coe is a bit too old now. Coe was running 1:43 seven years after he ran 1:41, which is exactly what you'd expect.

Exactly. 1:44 at 23, 1:41 at 24 and 1:44 at 25.
he calls it vitamin b12
Amos is a lazy f***er.
If he goes at it seriously, and doesn't miss training for a few months and doesn't party too much (he's part time DJ) he's almost unstoppable and probably the one guy that could beat Brazier.
The problem is that he hates training.
In 2012, 6 supposedly junior African athletes ran the 800 in 1:43 or better. One of those athletes was Nijel Amos who ran an astonishing 1:41x; Timothy Kitum and Mohammed Aman ran 1:42x. Of those 6 athletes, only one athlete, Mohammed Aman improved upon his junior PR and that was only by 16 tents of a second. Obviously, when you are running as fast as these athletes did as juniors, you are only going to improve by so much. 6 athletes peaking before age 20...the oblivious conclusion is that these athlete where near or at their prime when they came on the scene. These athlete were probably in their mid-20s back in 2012, which explains why they are either retired or running much slower than they supposedly did at age 18 or 19. With that said, Nijel Amos could be in his early 30s and while his career appears to have been revitalized of late, I suspect his 1:41.89 from last year could be the last hora from an aging athlete. Don't get me wrong, Amos is still very good and will be in the mix in upcoming global championships.
Nigel Amos will win because he understands the most important secret of holding form is to keep your primary joints moving, even if your arms flail around. People who think arm-flailing is bad are dumb, it makes him faster.

You don't even know his name?

Exactly. 1:44 at 23, 1:41 at 24 and 1:44 at 25.
And 1:43.9 at 21, 1:42.3 at 22.
In a decent paced race Coe could have run 1:43 every year from 78 to 89, it’s just that in some years the opportunity never arose. In 85, when he was far from his best he ran 1:43.0 in a fast paced race, so was capable of 1:42 in 80, 84 and 86, when he was in much better form.
Kitum and Amos had PRs that were set in a race where they had a perfect rabbit for the entire 800m. Which NEVER happens under any other circumstance. Rudisha even told Kitum EXACTLY how to run the race.
That being said, it is common knowledge that African athletes often do not know their own age. Multiple high-profile African athletes and journalists who investigated the matter have attested to this. In some cases, there is active age-cheating, but usually, they have absolutely no idea.
Is this a joke post
Not sure how you can say that there was no opportunity to run a 1:42 some years in the 800m. Coe just needed a guy to run a 400m in 49-50. That could have and probably did happen every year.
re" In some cases, there is active age-cheating, but usually, they have absolutely no idea."
That is correct; however, in youth and junior events where age matters, being an age cheat is about as unfair as being a doper. Most of our top distance runners like Franklyn Sanchez, Webb, Ritz, Rupp, German Fernandez, Lukas Verzbicas and Drew Hunter for example, never even bothered running world juniors knowing they would be competing against world class adult athletes.
