I wasn't referring to them. I know they ran a 1500. Sorry if that wasnt clear.
Yes in xc super common to run a 5k every Saturday. Or 8k in college.
I do think we get overraced like that, for sure after weeks on end. But ok even conservatively.. the idea that an all out ,1500, 5k and 10k in an entire season is too much is really silly. These athletes are trained to run rounds too. So at the very least you have us champs (or us trials) and then world's(or Olympics). That's several hard efforts right there and I'm sure they'd run bare minimum two hard races before that.
Hell you can run two marathons in a year no problem.
Look it doesn't seem like you'll change your mind. Fine. I think most people on the planet agree with me. I'm content with my position
Yes, three races in a season isn't that crazy. However, three races all out at your peak is a little bit crazy (especially at three very different distances). It's borderline impossible to pull off. They clearly peaked for these 5ks, and you expect them to just hold that fitness for another month? You may be content with your position but your position is wrong.
You also have to consider the mental aspect of this. These athletes aren't thinking "Oh man I need to get in these quality races because I'll never be this fit again" they are expecting to be fitter than this next year when stuff matters again and this will not be the last time they are this fit. There is nothing wasted about this season. You all will think Jerry next year when they are cleaning up at the US trials and preparing for the Olympic games.
