Nope. There be many guys going 5 or 6 years now so the recruiting will be much tighter the next year or two.

do you think that will result in a larger spread of athletes? Wouldn’t it make them stay close to home to save on tuition?
I don’t know about that. From what I’ve heard it seems like a lot of the heartland girls are being pretty heavily recruited by out of state schools, i wouldn’t be surprised if non big10 schools scoop the Midwest girls up especially someone unquestionably talented as Ford or Weaver as you saw with Wolfgram. Plus it’s a matter of the returners Wisconsin/minnesota are hoping to take into next year and how that effects the process. My bet is less than half of those girls stay in the midwest, and minnesota will get more of them than wisco
Which schools for Ford and Weaver? I wouldn’t be shocked if Ford left the state, her area is weak as all get out, but does anyone know who’s eyeing them up? Which schools do you think will be getting the big classes? I was thinking it’d be the big 10s but it appears you all have other ones in mind.

I think it would be wise to guess someone like Ford is having strong attention from practically any school she chooses-she has amazing potential and most likely has just been continuing to make gains over this break-she of all athletes is someone who won’t end up stagnating/slowing anytime soon so I’d guess anywhere as good as Stanford/Oregon/NC state to a outside bid like a Big10 or some absolute wildcard team with potential. Ford will no doubt be a huge gain to any team
I have to agree with that. She is such a talent that I knew she’d have pretty much anywhere in the country to choose from. I am interested to see how fenske/Malecek/Sperka turn out. All have mid-range times good enough for D-1, but none have performed exceptionally (with the exception of Fenskes earlier years) on the national stage.
And those athletes all have potential, but let’s face it they’re nothing special. Ford is the only serious talent out of the Midwest who’s gonna make waves. The interesting thing is sperka and Malacek are from the same state/state race, but that’s the only noticeable thing about that area. The other states runners blow them away including Fenske by far
If I were a college coach, I would contact Sean Carney of Hilliard Darby High School in Hilliard, OH.
He was the D1 state champion in the indoor 3200 as a junior this past March in 9:18. That's not a world-beating time, but he comes from a high school program that isn't strong. I would be very interested to know from him what his mileage has been and what his injury history has been. I would also like to know how much he likes running and if he wants to get much faster.
Decent runners from traditionally weak programs deserve a strong look. Build him to 110 MPW by the time he is a junior in college (and maybe only a sophomore eligibility wise) might make a monster out of him if his training in high school was lacking, his injury history is nil or little, and he is interested in working to get better.
And, no I am not Sean Carney or his father or anyone who even knows him. I just know of him.
Tes I think more guys will attend their state schools. I also think more will go D3.
Heard in Sydney Thorvaldson’s Milesplit interview that she is interested in NAU, Arkansas, Stanford, and Oregon.
Meghan Ford lists the four schools she's choosing from in this interview:
https://www.milesplit.com/articles/284196-meghan-ford-is-ready-for-her-last-xc-season-in-north-dakotaThey are: Utah, Wisconsin, Furman, Boise State (in no particular order she says).
Peyton geeher goes to fm so I understand being suspicious of his potential but he won a regional meet as a junior with an indisputably fast time and is a top returner from nxn, definitely someone who deserves to be recruited at some level
Tristan Merchant said in his Milesplit interview that some schools he's talked to are Liberty and NAU and Oklahoma State.
Meghan Ford committed to Furman today.
Wow, that's an early commit for Furman. I guess there aren't official visits this fall due to covid.

Didn’t hear her mention NC State, but it doesn’t mean she isn’t interested in it. If she doesn’t end up going there, it’s a smart move in a way. It’s gonna be really hard to make their top 7 the next few years.
I think someone as highly regarded in ha running as Meghan ford committing early will DEFINITELY start a “wave” of athletes committing early. There’s a high chance in the next couple weeks people will see her choice as a sign to decide early, find a school they love, and take a leap of faith with the school. Personally it seems much smarter than waiting for a CHANCE for officials and possibly losing potential scholarships to smart early signees

Given that currently hs seniors can only verbally commit, it's not clear how solid any commitment might be before NLIs can be signed. (Not saying this isn't a solid commitment but nothing can be signed so things can change.)
In any case, it will be interesting to see how recruiting goes given that most hs seniors want to visit and meet the team prior to making a decision and clearly no one can visit right now so , I guess, stay tuned....
