Great news! Sturgis Motorcycle Rally still happening as scheduled

What a sad commentary on what we've become. Fat, purposely ignorant, aggressive, constantly in search of shallow entertainment, that's what has become of the greatest nation in less than 75 years. Of course they're almost all riding Harley-Davidsons, bloated, expensive also-ran machines from a company that may well be bankrupt five years from now.

So this rally started on August 2, eleven days ago. Nearly a quarter million people from all over the country converge on a town of 7,000, many not wearing masks. According to some experts, we should expect a significant spike in cases in South Dakota as a result, similar to the way there was a huge spike after Trump's rally at Mount Rushmore. By now cases should be starting to rise in SD. Is there any evidence that this has happened at all?

Absolutely! A great time of near normalcy for a few days by thousands and a huge spike to the South Dakota economy.

Infection-fatality rate is 0.6%. Out of 1,000 infections, 6 people will die, 994 will live.

The fear mongering and hysteria is getting older than any biker in Sturgis.

Why would it spike in SD? Pretty sure most infections would come from people traveling back home.

Wasn't there a major fear that all of the sickly out of towners would infect the Sturgis locals with this super spreader celebration?

Also other than Vermont and Wyoming, South Dakota has tested the least amount of people. Can’t have a spike when you don’t test! Or at least people won’t hear about it

Wouldn't it also make sense that if your state has a low population that you would have low testing numbers? How about if you don't have symptoms and you won't be around people that are high risk for catching and struggling with the virus that you wouldn't get tested?
