I just an email with the below race announcement:
"Exciting News!
If you've been hankering for a live race, the wait will soon be over!
RunVermont will be bringing live races back in a few short weeks. We have been working with members of the Governor's Restart Task Force to develop a plan that will allow us to gather for a race. We'll be bringing you revised formats for our Island Vines 5 Miler race, the Half Marathon Unplugged and the VT State 5K CHAMPionship - a brand new race. The dates and formats will be modified to comply with Vermont's health guidelines and provide a safe experience for all.
We consider it a privilege we've been granted the opportunity to move ahead with our race plans and it also represents a great responsibility. The underlying value in all RunVermont events is and always will be safety. That means we have an obligation to you, our volunteers and our community at large to ensure everyone stays safe. It also means we're going to require a few things from all of our runners.
As we return to live racing, the events will have expanded time frames (for example, Half Unplugged will take place over a 2 day period), specific wave assignments limited to 150 people/wave and designated venue arrival times, mandatory health screening, social distancing requirements, mask requirements prior to running, and agreement to a new event code of conduct for all runners. Each race event will also have significant time staggers between waves (from 20 minutes to an hour). All of these considerations will be described in greater detail as part of the registration and confirmation process. Please note there will be no race day registration for any of these events. New protocols will not allow for such activity and all race packets will be mailed prior to the event.
Half Marathon Unplugged Registration Update
All current Half Marathon Unplugged registrants will receive an additional email in the coming days detailing your options for going virtual, deferring to 2021, or walk you through the re-registration process and have you select the day and wave you would like to run.You will have until August 25th to select your options before we open to new registrants.
New registrants will be provided day and wave options when you register online. We will be opening registration for new registrants on August 26th on a space available basis.
For those registrants who had taken the deferral option, we will be sending an email giving you the option to re-register for the event in October. Watch for that email!
Out of state registrants - for those Half Unplugged runners who have already registered and reside outside of Vermont there will be additional considerations. To comply with the Vermont Department of Health's travel guidelines you will need to reference their website to determine if you may be subject to quarantines based on the location of your residency. Click here to find those requirements. Out of state registrants may opt to defer to 2021 at this time, or, as of October 1, 2020 RunVermont will automatically defer any out of state runners subject to quarantine unless you contact us directly with your quarantine plans prior to the race.
