I would prefer 10k. 2nd choice is mile. 3rd choice is 800.
Shelby used to consider herself an 800 specialist. She held the 800 and 1500 state records but the 800 was beaten 3 years ago.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Karissa wins the race and gets the record? She also broke the AR in that 5000 and wasn't far behind Shelby.

4:11.88 coming up. Her HGH face makes me laugh. The Bowerman 'babes' are getting more sculpted jaw lines than the most alpha Chads. The sky is the limit in a season with no real testing. Its all a charade.

+1 although I think we all know the answer is that they’re too scared of real competition
I appreciate the BTC meets as they're being inclusive and we're getting to see good performances under staged conditions. Unfortunately we don't get to see much racing. I'm a fan of the BTC, and the babes especially. I hope she gets the AR, and I think she will, but...
Until Shelby wins an International Medal, she'll just be the fastest American, but won't have much of a legacy. She needs to win some international medals to legitimize her career. Unfortunately the pandemic is taking away at least one of her peak years. For her sake, I hope she gets her shot in 2021.

complain complain complain. When she runs 1:57 will you be complaining still?
She calls herself Shelbo800 remember. She was running 2:01 back when she was about a 4:05 runner and now she’s 3:54.
Just want to see something new or notable. If she runs 1:57 or faster, I wouldn't complain. That's an exciting mark, and she'd have to be ambitious to get there. You're making my point to some degree - if she ran 2:01 when she was a 4:05 runner, what's exciting about improving 2-3 seconds when she's 10+ seconds faster in the 1500 and probably 90 seconds faster in the 5,000. 1:58-59 for a 3:54.9 1500m runner is just dull.
The key word here being "OPEN" to. It doessn't say has to participate! Just "OPEN TO". Yes the records will count.

Schweizer was paced by Houlihan until 1100-1200m and then ran 4:00. For the AR she has to keep this pace for for another 109m, so it is possible (barely). However, if someone else paces them in the Mile until ca. 1000m, I don't see how she could beat Shelby on the last lap as the latter is still a considerably stronger 1500m runner. Quigley could probably make pace for them until 2:40 1k (not exactly easy for someone with a 4:03 1500 PB) but they won't have a "pacer" until 1500m like Purrier did indoors.

Except it's not open to other clubs... It's literally called the BTC Intrasquad meet. I am a fan and subscriber and will gladly watch Shelby run 4:16 or 1:58 or whatever, but we can't just pretend the rules don't exist. It's right there in plain English.
Yes you could invite the local girl scouts club! They don't have to participate! As long as it is "OPEN TO". The only crickets I hear are in your empty skull.
When Houlihan's 5k record and 4x1500 records show up, you can keep crying.
ah, mary decker slaney, drugs ban person and with salazar as coach, also Budd hating cry baby. what a wonderful role model she is / was.
please expunge all her achievements from sport.
you may as well support flojo or that texan cyclist whose name escapes me.

I think she gets it as well. 4:14.60 or maybe 4:15's. She's i great form. When I ran 14:20's for 5000m, I was running about a 4:12-4:16 mile open.
Hoorah. Really looking forward to this one, as there is so little going on. I hope Schweizer gives Houlihan a run for her money too (maybe could beat her...). Fast times all around would be great to see.
I feel sorry for Houlihan, as she seems to be rounding in to magnificent shape. Such a shame for her that Tokyo has been delayed.
Good luck to them all, and well done for putting something on for the fans during the pandemic.
4:17.50
A very good time. She didn't look fit for a better time in that recent 4 x 1500. Schweizer may manage 4:20.05.
That track they're using is not a fast track for 800/1500.

mary decker was one of the fastest american women from the age of 13. the drug thing happened but she was almost 40, trying to comeback after 10 years out of the sport. knowing what we know about salazar, it is very likely this is the only period she was messing with the stuff.
As far as zola budd, decker has point blank said that budd did not purposely trip her and blamed herself for being inexperienced at running in a pack, though it may have taken her several years to admit this.

The typical Salazar tactic was:
AlSal: Mary do you use birth control?
Mary: Of course I do, I am still a competitor ... kids can wait.
AlSal: Double you dosage ... er, I mean take twice as many pills.
Mary: I have a limited prescription.
AlSal: I have plenty of those pills. I'll have some sent by secret courier over in a carved out used book in a reused brown pill vial.
Mary: You can do that?
AlSal: I created that method. Stop asking questions and take your extra pills. You want to still be a competitor at the highest level?
Mary: I won't get caught?
AlSal: I used my own daughter as a guinea pig. I know where the gray zone is.
Mary: If you're certain. Send me the book.
AlSal: Books. Regular deliveries. Like the Book of Month Club.
Lots of arguing in this thread, just wondering how I watch this?
there was a link in the last thread for one of these. you're gonna have to pay something like $13 per month for a sub.

This is 100% letsrun.
The races will be on USATF.tv (through Runnerspace.com) but there is a pay wall. For at least some of the races there have been replays on Youtube over the weekend.
stay off letsrun for a day and then watch the race on youtube the next day
