Grayson Murphy did soccer instead of cross country and track in high school. Started college playing soccer still, then switched to running in college, and was all-American. Then won the US and World Mountain Running Championships last year.
No, my coach wouldn't keep me on the team after the summer practice sessions. I missed out on all the fun partying with XC boys at my high school. How fast can you run 800m???
No I was never good at sports. No athletic ability and never got a fair shot by coaches. I tried basketball but couldn’t shoot a basket even after practicing every day for 2 years. The coaches and players all made fun of me. So I started running but can’t even break 7min in the mile after running for years too. I have no talent. What do you think I could run for 800m ?
No. My family is rich so I tried out for the equestrian team at my posh private school, but I was too uncoordinated to ride a horse. After 2 years, of trying out and not making it, I tried out for xc. But I got injured running 20 miles a week and didn't bother with the tryouts. What's your time for 800?

My family is not rich
I played soccer football basketball and baseball before running xc and t/f in highschool. Freshman year was my first year running.
Yeah Pete45! Get the story straight! david45 wants you to know all the details of his (not at all fictionalized life). He is getting frustrated because you can't seem to remember the details, despite giving you ample opportunity to learn his character's backstory!
Get it? Not rich. Conservative parents. Barely closeted. Tried out for xc and can't get over it. david will not be so patient with your faulty memory next time. Actually yes he will.

No. I am sick and tired of non-serious posters posting in the first place

Why do you think my life is joke! I missed out on xc parties with all the cute boys!

You are not serious about running. How many runs have you attempted in the past month?
Your threads are like a microcosm of LRC for you. You create them because you have some pressing issue you want to discuss, and you get frustrated when people go "off-topic" in a thread you wish to control.
Now imagine, an entire group of people who come to the forum looking for running-related content. And no, not the identical topics you've been discussing with no progress or reason for months. Your threads are pointless, useless, to everyone except:
- You (although I would argue it's counterproductive for you)
- People who enjoy roasting you (although I would argue it's counterproductive for them)
- People who earn money based on the amount of activity in the forum.
So out of those 3, only one is really benefitting, and it's not you. You know what I call that? Working for free. Whether you're a lonely kid who can't stop coming back to this abuse, or a troll with the worst premise in the world, you are working slave labor for LRC.
Yeah. The brojos are definitely making money off of me.
Actually played football and basketball my first two years of high school. Wasn’t even bad made jv my first year for both sports, but loved running. Worked out well since now I’m a senior running 16 low for a 5k & 4:30 for a 1600.

Has there been any good track runners who only did PE before doing track?
Yes. I told you I ran 4:15 in HS with no training. only the compulsory PE lessons
