Nobody's going to watch a 10k with maybe 2 or 3 guys in it at a track meet. If they want, they can set up a 10k time trial and Mo can do it on his own time, with teammates pacing.
I don't think he's that shook up about not having to race a 10k.
Everyone would watch it, a 10K would be the most compelling race of their season. There will never be a better opportunity to chase a fast 10K time, while they are fit, have no important races coming up and will take a break after this.

They ran 10K races at all-comers meets in Eugene in the early 80s. We did a 5K every Tuesday night during the summers in all-comers in the podunk Midwest.
That you have a pay to watch a glorified, bizarro workout by BTC and by whatever other group was running bizarro stuff on a Friday night, during a pandemic, when nothing in the world is going on, says everything that's wrong with T&F all wound up with a bow.
Were these '10K races at all-comers meets in Eugene in the early 80s' nationally televised like you expect their intrasquad meets to be? how about whatever other group was running bizarro stuff during the summers in all-comers in the podunk Midwest?
no??
just might be weirdly nostalgic about inaccessible meets in the 80's without the constraints of a global pandemic perhaps

Literally anything would be more compelling than a 10k.
I would love just 2 10ks in the meet. Advertise that the team will run as far at world record pace as possible. Guessing they can get a bunch of guys and gals to 3k and several women to 5k and a bunch of guys to 5k. Schweizer would get the American record and Ahmed would run 26:45.

After leaving Ahmed in the lurch in the shape of his life and not setting up a 10k or even a 3k for him is a legit tragedy. So, your big plan was to run him at his peak in a 4x15 relay leg?
Houlihan is the same story. Peak shape squandered on some obscure relay and pace duties. Honestly, it’s borderline shameful.
I’ve defended the team in the past for under racing, avoiding meets, etc; but that stops now. No longer a fan of the BTC.
I don't get it. You're angry because they're one of the few groups putting together high quality meets/time trials? I feel like BTC members are racing more than they have in the past. It's great to see them helping one another out.
Pretty sure Ahmed is confirmed for Monaco. Probably Houlihan as well. Jerry probably wants to keep them healthy until a chance to race against top competition & cash in on an appearance fee.
Seems like they're doing it right in the pandemic.
Agreed this poster was just looking for an excuse--he was never a fan!!
I know I would
