I honestly believe that if it weren't for the constant media coverage, I'd still have no idea covid even exists. I'm still yet to know of anyone who's been sick. I think it would pretty much be the same, not much would change at all.

Don't worry, it'll get to you eventually, the way America is going.
So unless it takes as many as the Spanish flu or the bubonic plague it doesn't count. More and more of your fellow Americans are dying daily and to you it's all a leftist conspiracy. If it doesn't directly affect you it doesn't exist. Give it time. You're one of the reasons the virus is out of control.

Mortality rate is far below 1% when you exclude people over the age of 70, possibly as low as 0.1% if you consider how many asymptomatic people there supposedly are out there who never get tested.
As cases ramp up, herd immunity will start to set in so that transmission rates will go down.
After a relatively short period of time, most people will have had it, so transmission will approach zero.
The world will continue as normal and this thing will be nothing but a memory.
Great idea! You should run for President. Sounds like you have the right qualifying level of expertise.
It's about time we do. Half of us have the will to, and the only ones opposing us will be the other half made up of assorted psychos, wokes, and wasted vegans who can only win a fight with 10:1 numerical mob superiority.

Six months in and living in an area where the virus surged, spiked, raged, and every other thing.
Don't know a soul who has gotten sick from it.
The majority of the deaths chalked up to Covid took place in nursing homes and took out people who were on death's door.
This is a fear mongering campaign with another agenda behind it

Why can't the Covid Believers ever make an argument on the facts?

The United States has entered a “new phase” of the novel coronavirus pandemic, Deborah Birx, the physician overseeing the White House’s epidemic response, said Sunday. Outbreaks are increasing in both rural and urban areas, touching isolated parts of the country that once counted on their remoteness to keep them safe.
“What we’re seeing today is different from March and April,” Birx told CNN. “It is extraordinarily widespread.

They aren't "believers". Covid is fact and data-based. Unlike the deniers.
My God.
How long will you continue to swallow the fear mongering without a bit of skepticism?
Astounding...now a new phase!
Denier is a term applied to anyone who dare question any aspect of an official narrative.
Intended to shut down discussion
It is hard to understand how 3000 deaths in 9/11 so traumatized the nation, and yet with Covid forecasts of 300,000 deaths by the end of this year the crisis has been turned into political farce with a stream of falsehoods, dismissal and denial at the highest level.
But what comes through loud and clear on threads like this is the indifference some of you have to the suffering and loss of life amongst your fellow countrymen that is at a greater rate than any crisis the nation has faced since WW2. There is a malaise in American culture. The sickness goes beyond the pandemic.

Birx is not a fearmonger; she is an official in the Trump administration, which has consistently downplayed the virus.

It is a term applied to those who form conspiracy theories without credible factual basis. It is typical of a form of mental unwellness.

attracts the deniers like flies on shlt

Tbf the people who make up falsehoods about COVID also made up falsehoods about 9/11

I’m struggling nowadays. I can’t decide if I should call you Mr. 2600 or the #1 debater on letsrun. Either way, it’s pure gold ?

The Spanish flu statistics were used to put the coronavirus into context. The Spainsh flu killed at last 50 MILLION people globally when the population was only 1.8 BILLION. To date the coronavirus has claimed 694,000 globally against a population of 7.8 BILLION. You can't say with a straight face that this is a pandemic. World governments & W.H.O. want to call it a pandemic for more power, control & behavior modification of people.
And your last statement is nothing but more fearmongering and more or less an insult. You're obviously incapable of discussing this logically & realistically so you resort to childish remarks - typical of the Leftist Radicals.
One thing worth noting is that 40% of the cases are asymptomatic, and 40% of the U.S. deaths involved nursing home residents.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.sciencealert.com/40-of-people-with-covid-19-don-t-have-symptoms-latest-cdc-estimate-says/amphttps://www.google.com/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/jemimamcevoy/2020/06/16/nursing-homes-account-for-over-40-of-us-coronavirus-deaths/amp/If this virus was so bad and apocalyptic as the Left makes it out to be, you wouldn't have "40%" of the infected asymptomatic - that's ridiculous. Two things are at play here: 1) This coronavirus is nothing more than a bad cold virus and poses little threat to healthy people (and the elderly can die of bad cold viruses) or 2) The PCR test is spitting out an extraordinarily high number of false positives rendering the test as completely unreliable. If that's the case, then testing should be stopped immediately.
And nursing residents are very ill people. The have multiple preexisting conditions, they're on multiple toxic drugs, they're in and out of hospitals, their bodies are failing, etc. It shouldn't be such "shock & awe" that this group of people with inefficient immune systems would succumb to viral infections of any kind.
Either way, the high rate of so-called Covid infections is what the Left is using as part of the fearmongering campaign. And the more cases that are found, governors can exert more power, control & behavior modification.
After all, the Left wants to reclaim the WH and they're in the homestretch toward the election, so the fearmongering will get even worse.

So far COVID has killed more people over the first 6 months than the spanish flu did. As an expert in the matter, I am sure you are well aware of that. Why aren't you doing an apples to apples comparison?
You're not putting this into context. The Spanish flu ended up killing 675,000 with a population of only 108 million back in 1918. To date, there are 155,000 deaths, and yes that number will continue to increase, but the U.S. has a population of 328 million - 3 times the number from 1918. The death rate is going down with coronavirus not up. Is your assumption that it's eventually going to catch the Spanish flu? Can you really predict that with the deaths going down?
