I think this likely has something to do with the fact (also) that many black and Hispanic people are also "essential workers."
I don't know what it looks like where you live, but so many of the guys doing construction where I live are not white. And killing cows, pigs and chickens in butchering facilities? Not white.
I could go on, but I think there is a lot more to this stat than just "race."
