You're slacking, LRC! I usually hear about anything remotely related to running on here first.

Tsarnaev death sentence overturned

The trial judge perhaps should have vetted some of the jurors more closely given the disclosure of social media posts they made at the time of the bombing. That or perhaps moved the trial out of Boston.
His convictions are not overturned, only the death sentences. This means a new penalty phase trial with new jurors and judge. My guess is that prosecutors will not pursue this, citing the trauma to victims having to give testimony once again and settle for a life sentence without parole. This will be acceptable in blue New England. -

I don't disagree with anything you wrote. Well done. -
“A core promise of our criminal-justice system is that even the very worst among us deserves to be fairly tried and lawfully punished.”
I agree. This POS should be treated with the same degree of fairness and and lawfulness he exhibited to his victims, which is none whatsoever. A slow, excruciantingly painful death stretched out over several weeks would be too good for this f#@ker. -

Which would make our legal system no better than the bombers. No, give him life in a federal prison, without parole. A life where he'll never walk in a park again, or go to a restaurant, or see a movie in a theater, or go on a date with a woman, or get up when he wants to, or wear clothes of his own choosing. This is a sufficient punishment, in my mind. -

He willingly murdered innocent people. His life is forfeit in my mind, and should be afforded no chance at peace should he find it in prison. Remove his ability to consume limited resources and attention. -
"Which would make our legal system no better than the bombers"
Justice and closure matters. It isn't justice for the family of victims for people like you to spare his life. Let the victims of the family decide his fate. -
"19 young blacks were killed in Chicago last weekend alone, and no one cares!! Where is the media! Black lives matter!!!!"
Were they killed by other black men? And yet you blame the media? How about turning the blame to the actual criminals? -
We do not condone putting any humans to death. Full stop.

I'm not asking for his life to be spared. I think having due process, even for despicable people, is important. -

I believe that Tsarnaev deserves the death penalty for what he did, but leaving it in the hands of the families is a horrible idea. Justice is not about revenge. And after what the families went through, putting that decisions in their hands is no more fair to them than it is to Tsarnaev. -
the death penalty should not exist. life sentences should not exist. every life may have a chance at redemption. maybe it's circular to say i can think of no scenario in which two wrongs generally make a right, because the conservative killers will come back and say, here's scenario: death penalty for murder.
but that needs some support. usually the support is "justice" or "closure" or "deterrence" - - but i'm not sure any of those hold water, at least as the death penalty is currently administered. maybe it would be a closer case if we killed murderers quickly and more publicly? -

The media is only around when they can point their finger at Trump or the police. -

It is incredible how leftists are quick to invoke the possibility of redemption for cold-blooded convicted killers, but offer no possibility of redemption to the entire white race for the "crime" of being born and therefore complicit in historical racism. -
Thanks for supporting me!

Glad you posted this since many will read the headline and nothing else. At worst he ends up in prison for the rest of his life. (Worst for society that is). -
I feel like the headline is pretty clear. I didn't say that his conviction was overturned, I said that his death sentence was overturned. Could have been better but certainly doesn't indicate that he is walking free.
