I felt sad when I saw Derek run 3:51 in the race in which Mohammed ran 335. I’m wondering whether derrick’s best days are over or whether the COVID-19 episode put him at a disadvantage with regard to speed work or pace work or whatever? At 30 years of age he’s not really old but maybe his best days are over. For a guy who has ran 1308 for 5000 and 2731 for 10,000 in addition to 7.43, that was a disappointing time under any circumstances. I was thinking someone like him would be able to run at least around 342-3.45 at worst.
Hopefully he has a game plan and will get back to good form at some point in the future. and 2731 for 10,000 was a disappointing time under any circumstances. I was thinking someone like him would be able to run at least around 342 at worst.

On the positive note he has a very efficient and quick cadence stride which would lend itself to good marathoning. One feels he should be in the 207 to 210 range for the marathon.
