Yahoo suspends post article comments

ESPN and CNN did the same years ago. It has to do with cost cutting and nothing else.

ESPN: “Fans currently have more touchpoints than ever to voice their comments. We value their opinions, and feel that we are better able to serve them through our customer care team and our social platforms. In fact, we have and are continuing to create content for social that embraces these conversations and interacts with fans.”

It costs nothing to have people post on a message board. No, the real reason is that they have been embarrassed by the responses to their articles in the comment section. Many of the comments reveal the sophomoric political bias of their articles. Other comments reveal their incompetence in presenting an article in a professional fashion. Many of the articles are repackaged from other sources and seem to make no sense. A great many of their articles appear to be written by a teenage kid.

The age of censoring any thought on social media that does not meet the hosts agenda is now upon us. Freedom of speech will be a thing of the past.

Seriously, you are correct. The articles are laughably biased and for the most part poorly written. I only read yahoo news for the comments. If those go away then no reason to read it.

Explain what the costs are to have people post? I'm curious. I'm assuming you can follow-up with an actual cost number. Otherwise, why would you post?

It has nothing to do with the incompetence and jejune character of their 'opinions' and some of their articles. The most prolific commenters on message boards by far are racists, as we see on this website. They are embarrassed by the comments and don't want to have to spend money on monitoring them. Very few of the comments have anything to do with the quality of their articles.

Most of the comments are directly about the purile nature of their articles. Most of the articles are actually comical. Most of the comments are about how poorly written they are.

Why would more racists respond than others? No, Yahoo doesn't like the fact that most people come to their site to see the message board responses where viewers actually receive a more informative and balance view of the issue. Yahoo tried to censor the negative opinions on their articles, but they were overwhelmed by the number of people out there who think their articles are laughable.

You are now a racist if you have a different perspective from the rioters in Portland. This perspective is what the rioters are all about.

I think people should be regulated from claiming that people are racists because they don't agree with you.

That doesn’t really narrow it down when everything you happen not agree with in this world somehow is “racist”. It’s the default answer when you run out of valid discussion points.

What is Yahoo?

When a Yahoo message board poster repeated Joe Biden's quote "If you vote for Trump, then you are not black" apparently triggered Yahoo and directly led to the shutdown of the message board. This is what my inside sources said.

A few months ago, my local paper's online site stopped allow comments for most articles, except ones least likely to provoke bad remarks, citing a high number of comments requiring moderation so their editors can focus on other coverage. It's a much better experience now.

I strongly disagree with your thinking on this and it wasn't a comment by Biden that shutdown yahoo comments. My honest opinion i think they shutdown comments due to many people replying to an article with false news sources that twisted the article into something its not therefore creating confusion and panic, hatred, etc. Plus Yahoo had to many way to many fake news articles on the corona virus cases and deaths and interviews with people who's stories are complete lies and was printed in those articles and people caught those lies and reported them as fake news which they are.

When so many people flood the message board in response to the childish and biased articles being pumped out on Yahoo, what does that tell you? Let the people speak, this is a free country.
