But a solo run under who knows what conditions can't be measured against a CR, with the pressure of competition and race strategy. It's just different.
Sure it can. It's not the same, but it can and will be compared if he puts up a good time. Sure, it's not a race win or CR, but it's possible for an FKT to be a better performance.
Of course they can, but don't you think FKTs should be measured against other solo efforts?

What other solo efforts? Just do the comparisons. It doesn't have to be a cut and dry conclusion. It's easy to argue that Kilian could have run faster if he had competition since he knew he had the win wrapped up. How much faster? That'd be part of the discussion. Wasn't Xavier's (DQ) run basically solo? That wasn't a CR, but could be compared.
The next time the race is run, if Jim has FKT faster than the CR, that might encourage a fast race or solo off the front if Kilian or someone talented enough can chase the time.
Any updates?
Listen, I know a lot of you don't follow the sport, but it is a multi-billion dollar industry.
Jim Walmsley is the #1 ranked Trail Runner in the world, period, based on his RACE Performances. Ahead of Kilian Jornet, ahead of EVERYONE. You need to understand that. It's equivalent of Eliud Kipchoge being ranked #1 in the Marathon and running a sub-2 exhibition event. People still appreciate his mastery of the distance.
Here are the world rankings to help educate those on the thread interested and not understanding Jim Walmsley's career as a HOF trail runner.
Kilian has wiped the floor with Walmsley every time they went head to head. Including on 'runnable' courses like Sierre Zinal last year where he was miles ahead. And on technical terrain the gap is even larger.
Jim is an impressive MUT athlete but there is only one GOAT

Sure hope not. But it's been a LONG time.
He wasn't really in great shape. Way too much cycling recently. But he probably gave it a good go. Maybe live to fight another day.

Jamil tweeted about the Garmin servers being down and the next update we will get is at mile 91 Shermans.
That was 9h ago.
We haven't heard a thing. Do we even he is okay? Or is this becoming a serious search and rescue thing?
This is a pretty dumb comment coming from someone who 'works in this industry'.
Jim dropped. Looked like he couldn't keep food down. :(

Source? Not disagreeing because it makes sense. Just more "official" word would be nice.

Hope he didn't blow up, but going out that fast it's definitely possible. Seems like if he had gotten the record we would have gotten word on it pretty fast.
Kilian's all-time undefeated streak against Jim continues.
