I remember people saying similar things in 2016, like "Anyone who thinks Trump will beat Clinton in the election is delusional."

My son's AD just got word that sports are a go for NCAA D1 this fall. P5 schools in conference then revisit postseason.
Say What?
How can they have real NCAA championships without the Ivy League, Atlantic-10, Patriot League, America East, MEAC and the CAA?
For the majority of sports fans care about the big schools.
How could even conference only schedules work if some states are mandating 14 day quarantines for anyone coming from many states? It’s not going to happen.
Yes, A bit long, but added the paragraph bullet points on Event Policy for those that may be interested/hosting an event this Fall. Long and short of it - 350 teams competed in California (!) this past weekend.
He = one of the coaches who brought his team, sent us the overview.
Someone may respond, let's see the tests spike in the next 14 days. Compare to the Arizona Track meet in June, and for athletes and the few spectators, have not heard of positive tests. Yet, we will see....

AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships. The event, which usually draws over 2,800 teams, still managed to get over 350 teams competing at the Orange County Convention Center this past week.
He said from the event to the hotels, he never felt safer. (He and the team stayed at the Hyatt right next to the convention center). They had 66 courts in the same space that normally would accommodate 130 courts. So everything was super spread out.
Here is what he had to say about the precautionary measures taken at the event:
-There was only one way to enter the event as well as exit the event.
-They had daily team health screening and temperature checks.
-All teams were required to enter together. This included all coaches, team members and chaperones. (each team was allowed 10 chaperones).
-All players, coaches and chaperones were required to be listed on the team roster. If you were not on the roster, you could not get in.
-Once the team was checked in, each individual received a bracelet that they wore for the day that allowed them to enter and exit the venue as needed with no additional screening for that day.
-Once inside the building, all participants were required to wear a face mask at all times, except for players when they were on the court during warm-ups and competition.
-All of the players' hands were sanitized when they got onto the court. Any player entering the competition from the bench was required to sanitize their hands again.
-All bench players and coaches were required to wear masks.
-All of the competition balls were cleaned after each game. But during the competition, if someone touched a ball that wasn't involved in the competition, it would be wiped down before play could resume.
-All courts were sterilized each night.
Attached the event Health Screening Protocol that outlines everything above in more detail. I also found it interesting that the Orange County Convention Center is one of the largest venues in the nation to receive the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC) Star Accreditation on outbreak, prevention, response and recovery. Here is a link to a press release that shows the steps they are taking: PRESS RELEASE LINK
Ever heard of the 1500 and 5k record holder, Houlihan? Ever heard of the 3k record holder, Schweizer? Transfer Iowa to Canada and the US women's team becomes significantly weaker.
I can post dozens of letters from ADs to students that state they will have fall sports. I said nothing about a personal relationship. Too many of you are accusing reputable ADs of lying.

That was more than a week ago. This stuff is updating by the hour. You are being delusional. Stop telling yourself there is going to be sports this fall. We are trying to help you.
Wow, you may actually be right

Nah, if that happens, it’ll be later in the summer.

Because are exempt because 40 something white men with their obesity problems need something to watch on the weekends and complain about all week.
Football will be on by mid Sept little guys. Deal with it. I know your generation loves this lock down and drama, but experienced adults now better. Time to play and get back to school. Common sense and tough ness. Lacking huge these days.
Convincing username, but still give this 1/5/10

Where did I say lockdown forever? Football honks sucked before COVID and they suck the same now. Everything else you say about back to school I agree with. Doesn't mean I bow down to the football gods. Deal with it. I know your generation loves seeing guys cripple themselves in the name of the gridiron but medical science knows better.
One generation seems to like talking about how tough they are while simultaneously not being tough enough to wear a mask for more than 3 minutes.
Amazing that hundreds of thousands are dying, the virus is accelerating in this country, restaurants are on the verge of having to close again in many major cities, and the Grand Cult of Youth Sports is still out there, oblivious, holding their idiotic tournaments and whatnot. Talk about being tone deaf. Talk about being selfish. Talk about likely spreading the virus. Absurd.
Football in the Fall? What a luxury it seems that we can carry on with our national hobbies of gladiatorial combat while the country suffers. Must be nice not to live in the real world.

Can anyone give a summary of this article for those of us who do not have a subscription?
Did you see the tens of thousands rioting in the streets, burning down buildings, toppling statues, and looting? Committing crimes while spreading the virus is the real luxury.
From the DIII management council:
“As Division III institutions and conferences continue to contemplate what it will take to safely resume intercollegiate athletics, one consistency amidst a lot of uncertainty is that flexibility will be imperative,” said Heather Benning, chair of the Management Council and executive director of the Midwest Conference. “These are unprecedented times, and they are challenging us to think ‘out of the box’ and encouraging us to think about how our business can be conducted in ways we haven’t historically done.”
With several Division III member schools and conferences announcing they will not compete during the fall semester, this action allows them to keep student-athletes engaged throughout the academic year and be flexible if they need to suspend activities because of health and safety concerns.
“The recommendation to allow for more leniency in the application of the traditional playing weeks model should go a long way toward meeting member schools where they are it in terms of ability to safely allow for the start, pause and potential resumption of seasons,” Benning said.
The Management Council also recommended the NCAA Board of Governors cancel this year’s Division III fall championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Council members committed to continue monitoring and assessing the evolving conditions and making recommendations in the best interest of Division III student-athletes, coaches and staff.
The recommendation will go to the Board of Governors and Presidents Council. The Board has the authority to suspend NCAA championships. Its next scheduled meetings are July 24 and Aug. 4.
