Pretty meh for Koko and Engels...I wonder if it was part of a workout or an honest effort...
Thanks
wow, a 1k
It's Nia AKINS--- she's a two-time NCAA runner-up, the second fastest indoor collegian of all time, an Ivy League legend, and arguably one of the most influential and popular recent pro runners. At least spell her name right...

“Arguably” is the operative word here.

You’re also talking about Gordon Ingle-brix-ten Mack here, too. Shocking that he’s still part of a sport that he seems to only half heartedly follow.
No she is not one of the most popular. Ask a running fan to rattle off all of the names of female runners they know and her won't be on most lists.

Didn't Koko just run a 2:03 800 from the 400 start line? 2:37 sounds about right. but yeah. she doesn't really have any wheels.
Rowbury hasn’t had a significant performance since 2017 — 8:40 is a huge step forward. Probably puts ber in the 14:50-15:00 range for 5k right now
Pete Julian’s group is racing along with OTC and some others at 12 Pm central time today
she's run sub 2 and sub 4.

*****Alberto Salazar's former group, but he's serving a doping violations ban
Best performance here is from Kerr. For those of you ripping Engels just take a little stock of the situation for a second. Some athletes just find it hard to mentally get up for what are essentially time trials with nothing on the line. These aren't races - even if there are 2-3 guys there at about the same level it's just not the same.
I think we have seen now with the 800m last Friday and then last night that Engels just struggles to really be up for these "events". There is absolutely nothing wrong with that and it doesn't mean he is out of shape which I know will be the hater narrative. Could be exactly the same for Klosterhalfen who also has now had average back to back Friday nights.
"But what about Brazier, Shelby, Schweizer, Mo" you might say - "they were up for these timetrials?" - hey, to be honest to me that's what makes it even more impressive. Those guys mastered the mind game and didn't need any extrinsic motivation/incentive to push themselves to the max (an actual race, money, a spot on a team etc) - pretty awesome really.
Anyways still good to see world class athletes out there giving it a swing - kudos to all

Too bad she could run 14:40 next year and still miss the team.
8:40 is very solid for Shannon Rowbury right now. She has got to be thrilled to be in this kind of shape now. At her best, she was just under 8:30. That's a goal she can achieve still this year.

Context. If one were to watch Engels’ run two weeks ago and then his 3k and relay last night, they would recognize a much stronger and disciplined athlete than before who is learning to battle in adverse situations. These aren’t bleached perfect time trials. These are races. Engels was impressive against Amos on the relay as well. I’m actually picking up on something different happening and I like it.
Good take on the situation. Seems like hes a super competitive person and it can be hard to get the competitive juices flowing in a time trial.
Engels just lacks discipline, we've all known that for a while. It's one of the reasons he transferred out of NC State. It's one of the reasons he lives in a van.
While other more disciplined athletes are improving during the COVID pandemic, he's getting worse.
