Yup, so many of us depend on his genuine content. Thoughts and prayers.

Go read through this thread. The world has changed. People just aren’t nice anymore. They’re a$$holes, and don’t even make an attempt to hide it.
This is a guy dying- literally, dying.
He is in ICU on a vent after undergoing a lung biopsy. He has been ill with an unknown cause. Per his brother's IG last night, Rivs is not doing well.
No more BS. Sending good vibes to Tommy.
To those of you making remarks like this, WTF is wrong with you??
Tommy is one of us. Come on, Tommy.

Ah, yes. Glad that somebody chimed in to say that Tommy needed to take personal responsibility for getting an awful disease that's landed him in the ICU. Go drink lead, guy. Nobody believes your libertarian bootstrap BS anymore.
No sh!t. I'm old but I'd be shocked if being an "influencer" pays $28,000/year for a family medical plan with a $5000 deductible.
It is so easy to pick out the posters that are angry at not running as fast as they want, not having a wife/gf and not having the job they want.
I hope he gets well soon and is back to doing what he loves. If people would just relax there's probably a middle way between the LRC bottomfeeder hate militia and the how-dare-you bleeding heart defender clan. His GFM has $125K, so he's well taken care of thanks to his brother passing the hat. I feel bad for his situation of course, like someone said earlier he's one of us. And it's testament to how he's touched others that complete strangers would pony up that kind of money. He certainly didn't choose or ask for that infection that has him in a bad way, but otherwise as an adult didn't he choose the life and career he leads? He's not some garment factory worker or miner with no education and no real prospects for better earnings. Isn't he a doctor? Much love to the dude, especially since he inspires many, but don't let this get overblown to either extreme.
We failed you.
good point and good to hear.
Keeping a good thought. Praying for the healing hands/minds?
According to a recent GFM update, Rivs’ blood oxygen saturation is getting better, the doctors put him on a better ventilator and are able to narrow down a diagnosis. Hopefully the progress continues! Prayers up

Link?
nvm
I genuinely hope he pulls through ok.

I’ve given this guy the benefit of the doubt before, and I hope he makes a swift recovery, but damn is he ever a weirdo.
Given him the benefit of the doubt over what?
I grew up near Tommy, have competed against him several times, lost to him most of the time, and feel lucky to be able to claim I know him. Cool dude. Cool family. I hope I'll have the privilege to race against him down the road.
Does he have covid? It seems strange that after so many days in the ICU his diagnosis is so vague.
Either way, I wish him well and hope for a good outcome for him and his family
So awful! :-(
Crazy that posters down in PHX have been asking over and over if he could have Valley Fever and the doctors just yesterday decided to give him an anti fungal.
Speculative, but:
Often after the early stages of a big systemic inflammatory viral or bacterial infection (sepsis) your immune system goes into a state of immumosupression...this is why late stage sepsis patients become super susceptible to nosocomial infections with staph or fungus or whatever is circulating around the hospital... so the antifungal rn might make sense. Youre not battling whatever did this initially, your trying to prevent the immunosuppressed patient from succumbing to something else.
Good vibes to Tommy rn, stay strong.
Update from his brother this morning:
We are beyond grateful for the outpouring of love & support. Steph has asked me to extend her gratitude for your kind words & generosity.
There is still no diagnosis & therefore no timeline as to how long Tommy will need to be in the hospital.
He is stable & being well cared for, but he is still sedated & on a ventilator. He has a team of very skilled doctors who still have more questions than answers.
We will continue to keep you posted about Tommy’s recovery when there are updates to share.
Progress is usually slow. Please be patient. Tommy has taught us about the value of long-term sustainable work. Brick by brick. Hopefully he’s just laying the foundation for a brighter future when he comes out of this.
As far as the Go Fund Me campaign goes, we want to assure you that Tommy & Steph will only use what they need to get through this. We don’t know how long his stay will be in the hospital or how long the recovery will be after the fact. We don’t know how long his ability to work & provide for his family will be limited. We don’t want Tommy or Steph to have to worry about the cost of the care that he will need. We want them to be able to put their energy into recovering so that they can be together again & return to doing what they love!
If funds raised surpass their needs, they will donate to COVID relief efforts on the Navajo Nation.
Thank you for your love & support!
