Do you understand it takes a few minutes of sustained exposure to readily transmit the virus and that no one has gotten the virus from randomly breathing in air outside?

I have been wearing a mask everywhere I train - trail, streets, and track
Why would I wear a mask while running? Oxygen is a lot easier to breathe than carbon dioxide

It's said that prolonged contact is necessary to contract the disease (not transmit the virus) because there's a certain viral load necessary for a person to get sick, which usually isn't transmitted readily unless someone coughs in your face/food or something.
You could theoretically get this in small bursts by breathing in a small viral load from different people you pass by on the street, although it's more unlikely.
I don't think I'll get sick by running outside, or get anyone else sick for that matter, but the mask (well, I'm actually wearing a bandana from Decathlon) doesn't bother me very much and makes people I run by feel better, so why not?

LMAO at this argument. It's pretty settled that masks don't significantly increase the CO2 in your system.
Surgeons wear masks for hours, climbers do too, as well as people running in cold weather, and all seem to do fine. Hell, Rupp won USAs wearing a mask.
Only have to keep this charade going until the first Tuesday In November.
And wearing underwear always keeps fart smells away from others.
What? In 100+ degree heat every day where I live? Are you kidding?...no way! ?

Quit your bellyaching. Just run in the morning or at night. That's not an excuse to not wear a mask.
I will not wear a mask while running (or anywhere else).
Why not? Informed consent. We have the right to decide what goes on--and into--our own bodies.
Anyone running in a mask by themselves with no one around them should be beaten over the head.
I'm not a virus denier. I'm happy to cross the street when I pass people on my runs. I am running alone 95% of the time. But making me wear a mask when I run is pointless. Even if you run right by someone, the odds of giving someone the virus (even if I have it) or contracting the virus (even if the person I pass by by has it) are astronomically low. Anyone who covers their face with their shirt, or any other stupid stuff like that is an idiot who doesn't read anything the CDC or WHO has put out.
I get up early and basically see no one when I’m running. In Oregon we have to wear a mask outside if we cannot social distance. So I carry one just in case.

You don't need to wear a mask if you're nowhere near anyone. Don't be a prick and get mad when someone running alone and 10+ feet away from other isn't wearing a mask.

My body, my choice
W.H.O. actually specifically recommends against wearing masks while excercising.

Thank you. Sanity is hard to come by these days.

You meant the same organization which covered up for China and didn't declare public health emergency until it's spread all over the world?
