That was beautiful to watch..
Now number #12 All Time; Schweizer is #14 All Time
last 2 laps were a 65 and 61mid for Shelby
Idk about Schweizer spikes but for record purposes
Houlihan had the classic Nikes on so all clear
It looked so freaking smooth! My wife kept talking about how easy it looked
And she was out front leading the last 1200m too... I suspect in a DL race with all the usual suspects like Hassan Koko Dibaba Gidey she could def challenge the WR

I still believe S. Houlihan needs to focus on 1500m. She is strong and has some speed. S. Houlihan has a better opportunity to medal at 1500m than 5000m at Olympics or W.C. A flatlander from Iowa does not need to race against those who have lived at altitude for hundred generations, 5000m.
Man is KS the most improved runner ever? She was very good college runner but the times have really come down

Simpler answer is whatever event Hassan isn’t running. Ghiday (sp.?), Kipyegon pose tough challenges to unseat as well. 1500 is deeper though with Muir and others I’d say.
ahh crap, she's faster than me now

I doubt very much that she could even match this time in a diamond league race. It makes a lot more sense that this is just what she's capable of under perfect conditions than that she's somehow made a huge breakthrough. Her closing laps were especially impressive though.
She's not suddenly a gold medal contender - I'd still bet against either of these ladies medalling in a championship though they will both be in the hunt certainly.
It’s a mix. She’s definitely getting better. She ran 3:54 last season. Her 5,000 is from 2018 right? Shes brought her 2019 form to this season. Schweizer is making the bigger jumps, but both are now in realistic to challenge for bronze in the 5,000 area now with Houlihan the same in the 1500,.
She has improved tremendously from 22 to 24
1500 down 4 secs, 3000 down 16 secs, 5000 down by a staggering 19?? or so
I guess this is what happens when doping control becomes lax during a pandemic.
Shoes schmooze
must be epo.... unless is it is possible for Dibaba et al to be clean.
massive improvement. no testing. from country (us) with long history of doping in olympic sports.
lol that lockdown testing pause really paid off ay
Really quite depressing to see what happens when there is a testing lull. Shows that World Athletics knew what would happen when they stopped times being used for Olympic qualifying .

Why not? She has a fast top end ability and world class 1500m finishing speed. She has proven to be a good enough tactician in shorter races to overpower some of the best athletes in the world. Why could that not transfer to a longer distance?
I guess the question I would ask you is which skill would she need to improve to put her in the mix against the best 5000m runners in the world in a championship style event? I think this result shows that she's there and she has a year to get better.
maybe transfusions
