Agree or disagree? I could see 1:41 from Brazier but 1:40?

brazier is the one who can make it happen and solomon as a top class performer has a sensitive feel for what is possible. speed, smooth running style, endurance, it is all there.

He's very talented BUT if you look at former 800 World Records, he may have already peak age (23).

Easily with those new cheaterfly spikes. He basically jogged a 49 pacing Engels recently, probably could already have done it this year.
It’s gonna be the same thing once they’re released to the public. People are gonna realize they aren’t as good as we thought previously lol

IMO the only reason why it is peak age is because once they break the world records and become famous they tend to be less motivated to improve much better, and it is the main reason why they slow down.
Like with Usain Bolt, I think he could have break his 9:58 record by a relatively good margin but he became so famous that he didn't have as much hunger to peak beyond anything he has known.
I don’t know. I think it is possible but not a given. He should absolutely run 1:41 mid at the least.
Shame that we lost a season during his prime.
Remember that the world record is 1:40.91, so it is barely a 1:40. His current American record/PR is 1:42.34... So we are talking about 1.43 seconds to tie the world record. He ran that PR at the world championships, if he has a paced race around that same time he could've gone slightly faster. He is 23 years old right now, and crushed his 1500 meter PR set last year, the year that he ran 1:42.34. If he had a full season this year it's reasonable to think he could be running a new 800 PR around 1:42 flat, bringing him about one full second from the WR. He has a handful of good 800 years left at least, some 800 guys are still at their best at 30.
Is it guaranteed he breaks the WR, absolutely not. But he's got the best shot of anyone this next several years. It's interesting how we are considering the 800 WR being broken, when it happened it seemed Rudisha was insane and no one would ever touch it.
He isn't as good as the Kenyan dude sorry
Are people really forgetting the greatness of Rudisha already. He ran the distance perfectly. Went out hard, hammered the third two hundred and held on. And a lot of the talk is about braziers PR being in a championship race. Rudisha ran his WR in an Olympic final leading from gun to tape .
Even if brazier does run a WR in a paced time trial it still won’t hold as much weight in my eyes. Kind of like kipchoges sub 2
This was a bit of a lapse in judgment by Duane Solomon. Like Michael Johnson saying Bolt will run under 19. Just let greatness be great and enjoy it. If he breaks the world record it will be absolutely amazing. No one knows if he will. If he ever runs an international 1500 championship, that will be amazing. No one knows if he will. Appreciate the man for what he is now. The best in the world.
Solomon also thought he could break the WR at one point...
Rudisha and Kipketer both consistently ran in the 1:41s. I think that's the athlete it takes to break the WR. But, surprises are always possible.
We might yet see Amos and Brazier both being in WR shape. Perhaps 2021 will be another Olympics where 1:41 doesn't guarantee you the Gold medal.
Bulbasaur is the most OD starter but Squirtle is pretty dope too. Charmander is for normies and is overrated.
To SHATTER the WR...
No rabbits, completely SOLO running free/wild(à la Amos)
Brazier opens in 48 and breaks 1:40.
The ALTERNATIVE WR
He may be better/more comfortable with NEGATIVE SPLITS
Opens in 50point/closes in 48
25-25-24-23
I think it's more likely that Brazier never runs faster than his current PR than him breaking the WR. But he definitely has a shot.
He's run 1:42. He's about 2 seconds away. Less than 2.
Sure, why not.

I don't think he is more comfortable with negative splits. His WC win was positive-split. Something like 24, 25, 26, 27

Bolt could have run under 19. His WR was into a slight headwind and he was fatigued going in.
Brazier is unlikely to run 1:40. Nobody is appreciating how much 1.4 seconds is in the 800m. Especially at the elite level.

I’ve been saying this too, something about the 800m at major championships that brings out the best in the competitors. No one in the 2012 Olympic final has improved their PR, Murphy & MacDaddy haven’t improved on their PRs from the 2016 Olympic final (I’ll admit MacDaddy is a bad example due to his under racing)
There is a kid in Great Britain who MIGHT get the Record as well, Max Burgin, I heard he is much better than Sebastian Coe was at the same age, and is expected to break Coe's 1:41.73 for 800 and Farah's 3:28.81 Great Britain National Records, Max Burgin ran 1:45.36 in a low key race with no competition, he is 16 or 17 years old now, he has not got to run this year (Like Most People).
