After researching I came to the conclusion that almost of the training models out there fits in one these two categories, with the HVLI relying on high volumes of easy runs and threshold/sub threshold runs (marathon to half marathon pace) with way less work at 10k pace or faster.
The second model relies on a lower (but still very high, when it comes to elite athletes) volume of easy runs, also a much lower volume of threshold/sub threshold runs and a lot of work at faster than 10k pace.
But I couldn't find any direct reference of a HVHI (high volume high intensity) training, in which you would do a lot of easy runs, a high amount of work at the threshold/sub threshold range (but probably a little less than in the HVLI) and a high amount of work faster than 10k pace.
Only athlete I know to have a training that would fit such a category is Kenenisa Bekele, but using him to validate a training model simply doesn't work as he was such an outlier. So I would be glad if you guys could point some more athletes who are know to do a high volume of training while maintaining a high intensity without neglect the threshold/sub threshold zone of trainingH
