Engels may have run 1:48 last night, but he has an 800m pr 2 seconds faster than Jakob:

1500 Metres 3:34.04 Boudewijnstadion, Bruxelles (BEL) 06 SEP 2019 1188

Do you really consider it relevant to compare 26 years old Engels´ PB with 19 year old Jakob´s early season 800m time?
If so, you should add that 15 year old Jakob ran a second faster in the 800m than 19 years old Engels did.
And that Engels didn´t break 1:46 before last year at 25!
Are you also singing the false melody that Jakob opposite to almost every other toprunner (inclusive Engels) will not improve into his twenties?
If not, do you acknowledge that Jakob has potential to be far better than Engels in the 800m as Jakob already has been in the 1500m for years?
No one talked about the future. We know Jakob will improve and it doesn't have anything to do with this subject. Stop using Jakob's young age as an excuse, he's a medal treat RIGHT NOW and he's already way better than Engels so why would you talk about his age in this discussion ?
The point is not about Jakob having the potential to be better than Engels on the 800m or not, it's about Engels being proportionally way better than Jakob on the 800m (3.34- 1.44) (3.30-1.46)
I'm sure Jakob is gonna be one of the greatest of all time in the future but it doesn't have anything to do with this subject, he's already faster than Engels on the 1500 so we don't care about the age and it changes nothing, stop always being off topic.
I agree. The present is that Jakob ran 1:46 and Craig ran 1:48 in time trials. Jakob ran great 2k on the track and 5k on the road. So just looking at present instead of past or future, Jakob is better at every distance, even 800.

Engels would have beat both Ingebrigtsens had he raced them in Oslo last week. Jakob is obviously the best runner of the three but he would lose to Craig in a head-to-head over 800m.
No. The numbers don't lie. No reason to think Jakob wouldn't win. He ran 2 seconds faster. He would run as fast as necessary to win. Guessing it Craig would be in a battle for 3rd against the 3 Ing Brothers if they race 800 today. 1:44-1:44-1:45-1:46 in real race with Engels in 3rd.
Do splits mean anything to you?
Kudos to Engels for getting after it! Gotta test those limits! Perfectly paced and/or neg split time trials bore me.
So if he'd gone out in 50-point for 400m, and run the second 400 in the same time or faster, that would have bored you?
I also think that Jakob would win a 800m if they meet sometime in this season or later.
Engels speed is completely over estimated compared Jakob´s which has been seen the numbers of times Jakob has outsprinted Engels in the end of the 1500meters (and miles).

If you think Jakob outsprinting Engels at the end of a 1500 meters is related to basic speed then you don't understand middle distance running brother.
For some reason the link shows as "spam" - nice message board guys...
Runners from Team Julian and Oregon Track Club Elite tangled Friday in dress rehearsal
By Ken Goe | The Oregonian/OregonLive
Donavan Brazier, Chanelle Price and Craig Engels won the races Friday night in what Portland Track organizers say was a three-event, popup track meet at Jesuit High School.
The meet between the Portland-based, elite training group coached by Pete Julian and Eugene-based Oregon Track Club Elite, was a sort of dress rehearsal to make sure a competition involving athletes from multiple teams could be staged successfully and safely amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Portland track president Michael Bergmann said afterward it was thumbs up all around. The participating athletes were tested twice before they raced. The location was kept secret to prevent spectators.
Video of the the races -- a men’s and women’s 800 meters and men’s 1,500 -- will be posted on the Portland Track YouTube channel later on Sunday, Bergmann said.
I’ll link the results and video when they are posted.
Price, representing OTC Elite, won the women’s 800 easily in 2 minutes 1.47 seconds. German Olympian Konstanze Klosterhalfen, who trains with Julian’s group, was a distant second in 2:04.00.
World champ Donavan Brazier of Team Julian ran away with the men’s 1,500 in 3:35.85. OTC Elite’s Vincent Ciattei was second in 3:39.48. Craig Engels, Brazier’s teammate, won an 800 no one else finished in 1:48.55.
Bergmann said organizers were encouraged enough to begin planning another popup meet that will include more training groups in several weeks.
“The coaches were super pleased and will welcome other groups to jump in,” Bergmann said, referring to Julian and OTC Elite coach Mark Rowland.

Don't doubt Sal or I'll punch you in the face ;-)
You're welcome.
I think this is it.
Brazier looks ridiculous. Closed in 53?
great video.
Brazier dropped a 52 low final 400 on the way to that 335 high.

He is ridiculous.
maybe 52 mid. walked off looking almost fresh.
then paced the first lap of 800 in 49, 30 minutes later...which means nothing. But I think he was trying to run slower and relaxed. Might have chewed engels up a little with that speed.
I’m calling double gold next year.

I’d be more curious of the last 300, because he didn’t really start cranking until then. 37 maybe?

Wow. ~52 last lap, ~38 last 300 Put 25m on everybody in the last 300 and casually walked off the track and didn't look tired at all.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
