Why are the GOP surrendering so easily now?
I don’t want to wear a muzzle, they are for dogs.

Science, medical recommendations, concern for citizens and reality

Hospital have reached full capacity. Mass burials are being planned. Dying at home without care has arrived in TX.

Governor in Texas, and Abbott can head out the door with that toothy monster.
As far as masks in public, welcome to two months ago Texas politicians.
Maybe you folks will assert your own motto - don' mess - and start to vote in your own self interest, which means in 2020 to vote straight blue ticket, top to bottom.
Next stop, universal healthcare!

That’s just stuff liberals and the deep state say. This thing will go away when it heats up.

Exactly, just more fear mongering. Of course cases are up here, but nothing of a concern. Stores are packed, people are normal.

They care about money and listen to those who care about money. Goldman Sachs study that just came out says a national mask mandate could save the US from taking a 5% hit in GDP.
https://thehill.com/policy/finance/505207-national-mask-mandate-would-avert-5-gdp-loss-goldman-sachsPathetic. It's too late. The GOP propaganda outlets have been working overtime to convince people that mask-wearing is nothing but virtue signalling and that the virus is totally over-hyped. Just yesterday, Abbott's Lieutenant Governor was running around telling people not to believe anything they hear from Fauchi (or, by extension, any medical expert who agrees with him.)
Abbott is presumably implementing this order at the urging of Fauchi-friendly experts. Why would anyone pay it any mind? Clearly the governor is showing his true colors as weak-willed, Trump-hating RINO and is caving to political pressure of some sort.
Of course, Abbott is a bonafide right-wing radical who never misses an opportunity to pander to his base. If he felt compelled to issue an order like this, it's because he's seen overwhelming evidence that things are about to get really, really ugly.
Yep, enough will be dead, and (maybe) unable to vote, and that will influence further elections. Good job, Abbott.
Texas has always been full of RINOs.
Blue states are opening up, while nanny-states like Texas cower in fear.

Didn’t the Governor say just a few days ago that the govt can’t make people wear masks?
What changed?
He seems without principle.

But
Prediction: he will win a second term, I guarantee it

Realty is tough on those two. It's always threatening to break through to their conscious minds. So far it hasn't though.
It's just the flu
How long until Texans get their human rights back?
Can we pleeeease get some hospital ships or COVID hospitals built that we aren't going to use, like NY/CA?

LOL! Never. Texans are pansified. The like to have the media portray them as corn-on-the-cob shift kickers, but at heart they like being led around by the nose by their government. The ultimate nanny-state sheep, when it comes down to it. They get smacked up side the head, and ask for another.
