OMG. There's going to be a million lawsuits even if Meet Directors have each entrant sign a COVID-19 Disclaimer Form

London isn't happening this year. These letters alone will cause the liability insurer to not issue a coverage policy. No insurance = No race.
I dont think the Actuaries cant justify insurance today
Public tracks, JC tracks, college tracks, HS tracks, parochial school tracks, cities that sanction road races, and their sponsors are all on the list of defendants of ambulance chasing lawyers
Unless entries are inclusive of chronic disease state and bed ridden 80-90 year olds for a 'virus' with a 99.6+ % rate of recovery unless you're in one of the two mentioned categories. Another truly asinine ploy by the liberals of the world.
I'm sick of people who politicize this. Runnerboy1, you (and others like you) are he reason why America has become the laughing stock of the first-world. EVERY other first world country has handled this and are back on the road to recovery. But the ignorance from many keeps us from making any real progress in the fight against this disease.
Take a look at how professional soccer leagues in Europe. They have started back and look like they will all be able to complete their seasons. Very few positive tests. Now compare that to our sports. Everyday you hear about more athletes testing positive. We are so far behind it's sad.
As for lawsuits. wait until schools get a taste of this:
Johnny runs cross country. Social distancing guidelines and health practices are in place. A week into the season, Johnny's dad, who has diabetes, tests positive for COVID 19. It turns out Johnny is an asymptomatic carrier of COVID 19. Contact tracing finds he contracted it from his coach, who turns out is a "super shedder." 13 other members of the team tests positive. Johnny's dad sadly passes away. Johnny's mom sues the school. 10 other families join lawsuit. School forced to end all sports programs.
Well I'm sick of people like you, who hysterically demand we shut down all normal life and worship at the alter of the almighty covid. Runnerboy is right. We need to just forget this nonsense and live. Not a single one of us is getting out of here alive, and we need to LIVE until then. No 'contact tracing', no more unnecessary testing of people who aren't even sick. The disease was a problem for those on their deathbeds, almost exclusively. Those who are extremely old and ill can take precautions and the rest of us need not think about it every waking minute.
Wearing a mask and acting responsibly while in public is THAT much of a problem? Sheesh. Republicans love to criticize left/liberals because they are soft and complain about a lot of stuff. Look who's soft and complaining now....
Yet the same thing has happened with the flu for years and never heard of schools shutting down all sports. Just cause COVID will kill 4 or 5 times the flu this year doesnt change the principle, and since HS cross country running started the flu has taken many millions more.
No, sadly it is a matter of degree and focus.
ComeOn's scenario is accurate i beleive.
In a normal flu season, said person just gets flu and dies - no idea /energy /abiltiy/precedence for tracing to school; and unreasonable to blame them since this is not 'foreseen' (being able to shut school to protect against flu).
For covid, all of the above is not reversed; they will track, they have the ability, everyone is doing it. It is reasonable to blame the school since the directly linked death is foreseeable, and it has been shown that the school would have reaosnably presented it by closing, which is now reasonable since we have been doing it.
Bang. class action. Millions gone.
I dont think anyone has any idea the feeding frenzy the lawyers will have. The lawyers are the threat to the economy more than anything else.
'for covid all of the above is reversed. pesky 'nots', not there when you need them, creep in when you dont.
Anybody who is any good is mainly at risk at the start.
After that, all the stars are going to want to lead
You can forget about this stuff for a while, until there's a vaccine
Flu is a known entity. COVID is not. Hence the reason for the caution.
Question is, how exactly would you react if say, your child contracts the virus from a coach or another athlete, and no matter how unlikely, suffers from complications because of the virus, Come to find out that the coach / school did not do all that they could/should to limit chance of spread. Would you respond with a "meh?"
My neighbor's ex lost both parents to COVID. He says his kid, who idolized his granddad, has not dealt with it well.
I suppose none of us really know how we would respond until it hit close to home. Point here is we know what we are getting with the FLU. Because we don't with COVID there is a lot of risk for schools running sports programs.

I'm a liberal dumb*ass. And so much for not politicizing it, you were the first to bring politics into it.

100% pro abortion, pro gay marriage, pro affirmative action, anti police violence, radical feminist leftist, and 100% against shutdowns and fascist mandates. Those are not liberal. They are part of building a more powerful police state, which I am against. The police do not need to be given more reasons to harass the citizens.
Americans have become the weakest sad-sack entitled sniveling losers in the world. God forbid we use discipline and delayed gratification to beat this virus like so many other nations. Fringe right wingers you have blood and a hobbled ongoing economy on your hands.
