I've run off and on since I was 18 (and am 36, now), but picked it up, again, about 2 months ago, after a few months off. For the first month or so, I was using some older shoes. Now, for the past couple of weeks, I've had new running shoes. I'm up to running 7 miles at a time, and running about 4 times per week (4 to 5 miles per run on average).
My concern is about an ache I feel in my right shin. It's kind of a dull sensation that I can't specifically locate, and happens usually when I first start a running activity, when landing on the leg. The pain goes away after I'm warmed up, and doesn't hurt at rest. I can't find any spot on the leg that hurts to the touch, either. Here and there, I'll feel it when doing something like springing up stairs or landing awkwardly on the leg.
My question is just whether this is something to take seriously, or is a normal, minor issue associated with picking up running, again? Should I keep up my training, and monitor it, or should I be cutting back mileage until I don't feel that sort of thing, at all? The pain is not bad, or anything, but I wanted to get some opinions from some other experienced runners.
