Bring the 4th on. Ready to run a race errrrrr TT finally 100% healthy for the first time in... what 18-20 months. Hell yes.
Then comes the beer and junk food binge all weekend.

I'm iffy on the TT now...
Club cancelled the TT we were going to have tonight due to COVID concerns, large groups, and difficult to social distance when running in a group around an oval.
I'd have to solo it tomorrow morning... did an easy 11 this AM, so it's not out of the question... just not nearly as likely.
I'll have to be talked into it. Supposed to be 98 degrees here today... weather not helping my TT motivation. Might still get after it though...
I am shocked. With the weather and the short rest, I thought I would be muddling through 5-6 miles this morning, with my leg raising hell after 2-3 miles. To my surprise, I not only went 8.75 miles at 6:54 overall, but felt good the whole way, and even got 6:39 for my last mile (and 6:28 pace for last .75). I actually felt a nice boost in that last 1.75...just as I do when I am going well. This was on 15 hours rest after yesterday’s 5:58 pm run.
If I am seeing the end of my long battle (which I was unsure would ever come), I will absolutely rejoice. Honestly, I am starting to rejoice already, and I want to share it with you guys and gals.
A very happy Fourth to everyone, and a special shout out to our thread vets. Peace and happy running.

I assume you are going American Eagle JUNK Headband? 'Murica
Down to just a few official entrants. Maybe some ... last minute people will join In the festivities In the morning. ..it’s gonna be a really flyer
What distance?
Hey, OR. Now is the time to stay sane and solidify those health gains.
You're putting it back together, but sometimes ya gotta wait for the glue to dry.
Yeah don’t go TTing a mile OR

Good luck y'all.
OR - you can join me in sitting this one out - there will be other races and time trials.
You got it darkwave and other friends here...will join you and sit it out.
Indeed, the glue needs time to dry.
I like how there are only four people running this, and I'm still the slowest. Balls
JTA - you're going to run a faster mile than the rest of us who aren't participating ? my fastest mile tomorrow will be 7:45-8:00 ?

The Bastille Day 2k (or whatever’s next) will always be there. But glad to see you’re coming along. Hamstrings can be a nightmare.

You take that back JTA, you take that back this instant

Well. I lied. I went out and did it. A bit of an epic story if you ask me.
Club sent email on Thursday cancelling the event. Which was the right thing to do. With the virus milling about and seeing increases everywhere, it wouldn’t be good to hold an “event” with over 40 people or whatever it would have been. After email, talked with my buddy and we both decided to bag it and just run easy on Friday. So I woke up early for an easy 11 miles before it got too hot out. Day went off without a hitch... hitting 97 degrees or so during mid day.
It was Friday, so pizza night for the fam. Get it from this local spot around 5:30. Crack a beer and start doing what I do best. Eating and drinking. Halfway through my beer and 2 pieces deep, get a text from my friend “thinking about it... wanna do the TT tonight at the track?” Yikes. But I’m anything if not done for some fun, after some back and forth about how crazy it is... I said “I’m in.”
Weather starts to turn a bit with summer storms rolling in. Drizzle here and there, but not changing our mind. I put the 3 kids to bed and at 830pm, roll up to the track. Easy mile warm up. Feeling full from dinner, but not too disgusting. Would I prefer I didn’t eat three slices and drank a hazy IPA? Sure. Would have made for a boring story though.
Warm up mile. Strides. Raining a bit, but not bad. Talk strategy with friend. He says he’s think conservative start see what’s left. I didn’t come out here for conservative. I tell him I’m going out in 71-72 and going for 445. I take the inside at the start from 9 meters back on the track (Full Mile). Runners take your mark.... go!
Get out good, feels fast but figure it should. Glance at watch at the 200, 34 seconds. Feel ok about it. Don’t ease off. Come through the 409m at 70.9. Feeling strong, friend is close behind, hearing his footsteps keeps me on the gas. Next 400 get a bit complacent but not horribly so, 72.3. Make an effort to put a bit of a surge in around 900m because it was a bit windy and wanted to compensate, also was feeling good and wanted to go for broke. 71.0 for third lap. Now it’s go big or go home time. I just dig for whatever is left. Figure I push for the middle 200 and hope my legs don’t fall off on the homestretch. Cross the line. Fireworks go off, American flags waving in the sky, hell there was an F16 doing a flyover. Ok, non of that happened. But... America. Final lap was 69.4. Finishing tome of 4:34.7. Buddy finished at 5:01, so I guess this was as close to a solo TT as you could get.
I’ve had some good stories, but this is one of the better ones. What a blast. We ended up on my patio afterwards drinking beers til midnight. Was a good time. Not a bad way to kick off the 4th of July weekend. Guess I need to rethink race days... apperently an 11 mile shakeout is what I need.

I agree! Epic!
Lanc - Epic. Although a bit of dyslexia or the IPAs are still in you. I’m guessing you meant 4:43.7. Still, helluva time.
Hope to hear similar epicness from RRR soon. Heard he caught a rain storm this morning. Was trying to wait it out, but he’s waited enough and tackling the storm like Lieutenant Dan.
Epic is the word for RRR. Epic fail. I think I twitched off all my energy waiting for storm to pass. 5:10.8. 500 In had no legs ... aerobically I was strong. I may give it another go this coming week. Just didn’t have it.
