Seriously? States and hospitals have been hampered by the fact that there is low supply of medical supplies from few suppliers, and the Federal government has NOT coordinated purchasing and supplies, so that all states have to bid against each other driving up the price of already limited resources.
Furthermore, the Federal government itself is bidding against states, and undercutting states (even Republican states). Quote from the governor of Kentucky: "It is a challenge that the federal government says 'States, you need to go and find your supply chain,' and then the federal government ends up buying from that supply chain".
To pretend that this is anything but gross mismanagement by the feds is ridiculous. The feds should be coordinating this response, and insuring states are able to get what they need. This supply could also be triaged by need if coordinated, something that manufacturers don't care about. FEMA etc. have the ability to help equitably disseminate medical resources, but they've vacated that responsibility and individual states are left in the lurch.
