I was recently informed that the university to which I accepted admission and paid a down payment to this spring has effectively kicked me out of school. When I asked why, they informed me it was because of "inflammatory, offensive and racially insensitive social media posts." I found out someone had led them to my social media in which I proudly post that "All Lives Matter," "White Privilege doesn't exist," and "BLM and Antifa are terrorists" among similar content. The coach that recruited me said they stand by that decision and that I wouldn't be welcome on the team. How is this legal? Has this happened to anyone else out there? Any suggestions on schools I can still go to who protect and respect the first amendment?
You don't give a sh*t about the First Amendment, because you don't care that peaceful protestors exercising their rights were forcibly removed to enable a presidential photo op. You have that in common with Orange Man. Prejudice posing as patriotism.

Whites have a privilege alright: the privilege of being infinitely apologetic, self-flagellating, ashamed and embarrassed for having predecessors that built the most impressive, prosperous, peaceful and fair civilization in history.
Sounds like you’re pretty proud of the enslavement of a group or people for 350 years.
Nah. Every major civilization had slavery at some point. Marxists want to reinstate it for all. Today they are using media and academic institutions to achieve it.

Public or private?
Private schools can do pretty much whatever they want.
Publics are trickier.
As for the team, as I understand you are not protected there.
Check out Hillsdale College.

I know this is a troll but for anyone wondering, as I have posted before, 'freedom of speech' is not 'freedom from consequence'.
You are welcome to say whatever you like, and will be free from persecution by the government. That's it.
Except that at a state university I think this would be a violation of the OP's 1A rights at least in terms of admission.

Except Antifa is not even an organization. I am not sure you know the definition of this word despite using it. Weird.
Can anarchists organize?

This is such utter ignorance and shows a complete misunderstanding of the 1A. Freedom of speech means one thing: The government can't censor, sanction and/or punish you for speech. That is it. The GOVERNMENT. That is the only context. And in that sense, you are absolutely free from consequence.
Anything else is not freedom of speech.
A state university is considered part of government and covered under 1A. FIRE has fought many free speech cases. Now, the team part is a separate issue.
Tons of court cases on things like "hate speech" codes. They have been struck down time and time again.

I don't why this is so hard to believe. I would post my name here but I already learned not to do that the hard way. I have however found evidence of this happening to other runners who posted unpopular opinions based on the liberal gestapo.
This isn't hard to believe at all. The Lacrosse coach at Kalamazoo college dropped 3 prospects due to "racist" stuff she found online. No specifics were given.

Being dropped from a team for racists views is legal. A state university acceptance is very different situation.

PS Kalamazoo College is private so it has a lot more leeway.
University coaches, and AD's, are looking for student/athletes with potential, not student/ athlete, trolls.
Your past would more than likely come up at some point during the season, which would be a great team camaraderie killer.
You can now take your secondary admission offer.
i used to think the running community was open to opinions but the comments on this page are awful. I am saying I agree with First Amendment Guardian's views but i am viewing the same thing i am seeing from Antifa and the rioters. Freedom of speech as long as it is our view is not freedom of speech. We ALL have a right to our own opinions. What if the shoe is on the other foot and you were dismissed from a college because of your views? MLK and Ghandi are rolling in their graves.

There’s a difference between opinions and genuine enquiry vs. conspiracy theories and hate speech
1) How is this legal? Saying racist slurs to a customer on the job will get you fired despite your right to do so. If you say something racist online and a college finds out, same rule applies. Not sure what else I can say here other than if you wouldn't say it to a black man, don't post it online either.
2) Has this happened to anyone else out there? The answer is yes, unfortunately this is relatively common especially with social media amplifying and fossilizing everything you say. best advice I can give is the only thing that can hurt you on social media is saying something messed up. Literally talk about anything other than belittling black people and you should be good.
3) Suggestions on schools: Not sure what to say here, dude. You are going to have to become a better man before colleges will take the chances on admitting you.
This might seem silly to you given your initial demeanor and response, so I hope you take this the right way--You gotta learn to adapt to the times, man. Just because you can say something doesn't mean you should. It gets trickier as nationalism and social convention can "excuse" American racism to a point, but I think you get the gist.
I bet you're gonna get a lot of flak for your post. While I disagree with your argument, I wish the best for you and hope you learn more about the young adult you want to become and the community you want with it. If you take anything away from this, please continue to learn about the world we live in and just try to just be a better person.

Universities have a right to accept people and rescind for almost any reason they want. What you posted is "inflammatory, offensive and racially insensitive". You were being an a$$hole. They don't want a$$holes on their campus. You got what you deserved.

It’s generally not smart to post any strong political views or divisive comments on social media under your real name.
Why are you complaining about how that affected you but you won’t post your name here?
Yet somehow hundreds of evil leftists can post strong political views and divisive comments on social media with zero consequence. Double standard.
You are mixing up a lot of things.
1) On a job your speech is not protected. So if you work at Wendy's and call a black customer the N word you are going to get fired. A public university (private colleges are different) cannot police your speech in the same way. Colleges once had "hate speech codes" and students were disciplined under them for acts such as calling a group of black women names (water buffaloes in one case). After many lawsuits that the universities lost, the codes were repealed.
2) Participation in athletics is not covered as a right. So if you pop off on twitter and the coach does not want you on the team, you are off the team. Any grant-in-aid might be affected as well.
No, they do not. They still have to abide by laws against discrimination whether public or private. Public universities still have to protect free speech. Private colleges have far more leeway.
is a great resource for information.
Antifa means ANTI-FASCISM. Do you know what the definition of fascism is?
Fascism (/ˈfæʃɪzəm/) is a form of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, as well as strong regimentation of society and of the economy.
Do you know what that means? CONTROL! Your dictator has complete CONTROL. I don't see anything wrong with being against fascism. In fact being against fascism is arguably one of Americas foremost ideals. Oh, you want some examples of fascist countries? Nazi Germany from 1933–1945. Italy from 1922–1943. Just to list a few. You want examples of dictators? Adolf Hitler. Benito Mussolini.
You're in favor of this? You WANT fascism in America? If so, then you are a TRAITOR ! to every American who wants freedom and liberty. Antifa is against fascism. Fascism suppresses voices, kills citizens, and commits genocide. Simple as that. If you're still in favor of fascism then there is something psychologically wrong with you. Fascism is the distinct opposition of almost every amendment in the constitution of the United States of America. Antifa is not a terrorist organization. They are an ANTI-TERRORIST organization.
