I live and train at roughly 1300FT elevation, and am currently training for a small marathon that should happen in late September that is at higher elevation. The course starts at 4500ft, drops to a low of 3800ft. I live in Nebraska and it is very hot/humid all summer so heat and humidity training is a normal.
My recent marathon PB is 2:46 which was 7 days after I ran a half at 1:16. Training for me is the Pfitz 18 week up to 90ish max mileage.
Does anyone have personal experience with similar elevation changes for a race and what it did to their performance? If I continue on with a great cycle (everything is going great now even in the heat/humidity) and the weather is decent on race day, is a 2:43-2:44 out of the question due to the elevation change? Would love to hear some of your feedback.
Thanks in advance!
