This will inspire david45 to help his Dad break 10.
The dad ran a 6:24 mile at 166 lbs (5-8) on only 9-10 mpw! And the muscular monster son said he can run sub-5? (I'm 59 at 165/5-6, 12-15 mpw and can barely run 7:15).
Very impressive...incredible genetics that runs in the family.
is it mandatory for these youtube douches to start every video with, "What's going on guys?"
Hey this dude is in good shape, likes to work out, and monetized it. He's making money.

Proof that Nick has sub-4 in him if hes willing to lose those muscle.

Yea, hard work and genetics work great with a well balanced diet of TRT.
People who run miles not on tracks (outside of proper road races) really confuse me. Like... it's a short distance. You should really try to be precise about it. There's high school tracks open to the public everywhere.

What's Nick's height & weight? The guy looks like he could play LB in the NFL. I think that Matt London dude that posts here is got some competition - Nick has got some wheels!
Who's the fourth-placer young dude there who got dropped two feet in?
So much for the threads around here talking about average guy running a 5K or whatever, or the threads that say genetics doesn't matter.

Obviously an outlier. 6 minute miles are easily attainable to the average man, remember PE?

schools are closed, and so are tracks. some states have tracks closed to general public... but you can rent for $250 an hour! (cali)
Yeah watched this yesterday and proves that looks can be deceiving when you think of fitness. If I would have seen Nick's dad pre-video, I would have thought that he was in great shape. Now watching the video, the guy has zero aerobic power. He's quite out of shape, but at least he gave it a shot. They are definitely not runners in that family! Nike has a 4:53 PR as a healthy male. Ugh.

His dad is 57, running 9 to 10 miles per week...
I was waiting for this thread to drop. Everyone is obsessed with Nick and I just don't understand it. He seems like a good dude but not every video that he puts out is good or even halfway interesting.
If he had paced his old man to a sub 40 10k, or a sub 18 5k, or a sub 3:10 marathon, in an ACTUAL race, that would be more interesting and a way more legitimate accomplishment. The one mile TT is pretty lame.
Also, in his videos half the time it's just him plugging all his powders and pills. Not really worth the time.

other ways to measure overall health and fitness
Right they are not "runners." They do just fine compared to people who just run. Could your runners keep up with these guys in the video in the weight room?
Being able to run a good mile time is the only way to measure fitness?
What PEDs is the old guy taking? HGH and testo?
As a geez myself, good effort from the dad. He could go faster if he improved his running economy, he was “slogging it”.
+1 for the poster who said to get yourself to a track if you want to ensure an accurate TT distance. Yeah, I know they’re mostly closed atm, sucks.
I am almost 54 and my body still looks good, closer to the kid’s—and I am telling you that it is absolutely possible to do it cleanly. I hope to be in as good shape as his dad in 3 years , but I’m told that’s a BIG 3 years.
But no matter how you look, you just get slow, it’s kind of funny. I feel great, look great, and think I’m pretty much as fast as ever—but I’m not, dammit.
Hats off to these guys. The kid looks like he has a nice stride, at least at that slow-for-him pace.
Gotta work out now, time is running out?
Really? Mid-fifties and you still feel the need to go on about how good you look?
I’m pretty sure that no woman under 40 is looking at you and thinking how good you look ... ha ha. Get over yourself.
If you saw me do a modified TT at 7/8 effort, you would not believe your eyes. I ran a 2:43.xx 880 on a 440 cinder track four weeks ago, almost 56 years old, about 195 lbs. to 200 lbs. at about 22% or 23% body fat. I did it alone.
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
