Tuohy has no range. She is a distance runner. Willis had the genes. She will be world class in the 800-1500 while these other girls will be decent runners in the NCAA.

Willis is better in the 400 than Whittaker is in XC. 52.70 would have been 8th in the country in 2019 outdoors. Whittaker was 13th at Footlocker which is far weaker than NXN.

52.7 split in 4x400 means nothing as far as open 400 or is concerned.
At all.
Only open 400 times count. In lanes, blocks or standing start. FAT timing. That's it.
Recalibrate assessment based on 54.67 not 4x4 split.
James is faster.
12.47 would absolutely smoke the others here.
5' 8.5" hj is ridiculous for any girl who can also run 4:49 in an event that you barely run (mile/1600)
That she can tripple in CO state 4a in the 200-400-800 as a sophomore while having 4:49 mile or and being able to be the #3 runner on her 3rd place nxn team (Niwot) is more impressive.
So is the fact that she could have tripled last year in
4-8-16 just as easily as her 2-4-8 performance.
If James actually focused on distance over sprints and jumps her 12:48 100 ability would absolutely crush these others.
Don't forget her 17:45 5k is at altitude.

Whittaker would have likely been 15-20th at NXN if she went there, and had a decent day in that weather. The girl she finished right next to at FL (Crain) finished 16th at NXN with identical speed ratings for the 2 races (149). So she was in top 25 in the country in XC for sure.
FAT split means nothing? What if she runs 49 FAT split? Many 2:05 college 800 runners split 51 even though their PR is a 56 from high school.

OK, sure, that means it would be fast, without a doubt.
But you can't take a 4x400 split, FAT if not, and say that time equals a 400 pr.
Doesn't work that way.
And no record books count any relay split as equal to that of open event record.
.....With that logic, about 200+ guys have gone faster than Van Niekerk.
And of course, then Bob Hayes not Usain Bolt is the fastest man ever.
In this particular case you can compare James vs Willis in actual open PRs.
James is faster in 100, 200, 400, mile, and 5k.
Plus a 5'8.5" hj.
.... That's everything but the 800 & 1600.
These are facts.
Willis is way faster at 400 and below.

Dude you playing by your own rules! Usually range means good in a range of events
Let's clarify and say top 50 in the country in the most events
Willis is only top 50 in the 400 and the 800. She might have a shot at the mile but maybe not
Anyway Willis is definitely not top 50 at the 5K, cross-country, or the 2-mile
The only one who's clearly top 50 in everything from the 400 through 5K and cross Country would be Whittaker
Tuohy has range... top 100 in 800... and top 3 in everything above.... 800 through 10K is range....

17:45 was not at altitude, it was at a pancake flat course that likely isn't even 5k. Since you bring up altitude, the altitude actually HELPS in the sprints and jumps so her sprint times have an asterisk. And being able to live and train at altitude is a big advantage.
Her 12.48 literally had a 7.4 tailwind. Yes, you read that correctly, 7.4. Legal limit is 2.0.
Roisin trained through indoors and didn't have a full season, so we really only see her best times from freshman year. She ran 3 races this indoors:
December 7th - 2:06 800
Feb 8 - Millrose Games Mile - 4:49
Feb 28th - 2:03 in the 800
She would likely be able to run sub 4:40 outdoors with ease
Roisin Willis is actually a national champion. That means the most.

Willis is good but no way she is going top 20 in the country in cross country
Cross Country is an acquired skill.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DOtjU33V4AIguev.jpgYeah, an acquired skill.
I mean her mom only ran 4:11/8:58/15:12/32:11 and 15:37 on the roads.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DOtjU33V4AIguev.jpgYeah, only 15:12.
But youre right. She probably doesnt have those genes. Genes cut off at 800 all the dang time.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DOtjU33V4AIguev.jpgYeah, all the dang time.
Are you seriously bringing up her mom as reason that this thread makes sense
Dude she's a good runner but this whole thread is crazy because she doesn't dominate at every distance
She was like 300 or 400 best at cross-country this year
She's never run the top time at any distance greater than the mile. And there's no evidence she was going to suddenly gets so much faster at the mile because she ran her time at milrose which is a good place to have a fast time
So the idea that she's some range King is just silly. Maybe in a couple years but as of now she's a excellent 800-meter Runner who can show a lot of potential at the 400 and the mile
I guess that's why Michael Jordan's kids are dominating the NBA right. Cuz every kid is exactly like their parents
Anyway I'm done here it's like arguing with a flat earther
She wasn't fully training for and prepared for Millrose. It was her first race in 2 months and she still ran a great time and a PR, beating the Gatorade runner of the year Ewert.
It shows she improved her fitness from last year and in a regular full outdoor season she was ready to run fast times in the 1600. She has 2:03 speed in the 800, she clearly hasn't hit her full potential in the 1600 yet.
Willis has also ran far fewer races than the other runners mentioned here. She's training smart and not over-racing. I think she can be sub 2 in the 800 next year. She is a bigger talent than Mary Cain.
Alot of the younger girl 400m/800m phenoms are able to eeck out awesome mile times based on the low BMI normal to kids of that age, I would say come back on the mile range in five years time. My guess the 400 will even be better but the mile not have improved at all.
Athing Mu is a great example, 4:38 1500m in 2015, 59sec 400m in 2015, fastforward to 2020 - 5:00 mile, 53 400m.

Ewert in all likelihood won the T&F player of the year award for her race walking.
