Anyway I'm very surprised Farah is going for this record.
Is he in stupidly good shape, or does he stupidly not realise what needs to be done to get this record?
With Farah it could easily be the latter...

I predict a "slight injury" leading to him withdrawing a few days before.

Haha maybe
When Haile ran his hour record he already had a legitimate HM PB of 58:55 from the previous year.

Lol on your last sentence, but maybe he is going for this record because it is held by Haile and as we know these two don't get along too well lately...
Has Mo been active on Instagram?
Has he been showing his workouts?

You can have spikes with the right amount of foam for the surface and the carbon plate. Same technology but tweaked for the track.
Key phrase is "will be" though. Spikes like the ones that Hassan was wearing for her dominant run are all prototypes at this point as far as I know. But in any case, I think when running 1hr, a lot of athletes would opt for flats anyhow.
Spikes will always have their place, particularly spikes with pebax or some other foam, but hearing Ritz and Webb talk about how spikes in the 10K just absolutely ruined their calves makes me think the days of pros using spikes for above 5,000 might be coming to an end. 1hr is way too long to be putting that much stress on the lower leg, IMO.

Not anymore. Most people don't like cheats.
Look, I know you think that. But after all the work USADA did to get Salazar without pinning anything at all on the star NOP athletes, don't you think it's just time to let that go?

Only on the treadmill...
Zoom X spike set to release in September.

Maybe, but I really think it's more about getting Farah onto the track (well known name), tackling a fringe record that isn't normally run (like the 2000m) but it is easy for the general public to understand.
What could be simpler? Run for one hour. See how far you get.
Average person will know that's like 10km for them whilst Farah will do 20+
They have the same event in cycling.
There is a reason they didn't televise the 25km run by Moen worldwide. It's not marketable.
The VF has been tested against traditional spikes and have been found to be more efficient from 3000m up. Even in a 5k with rounds I can easily see guys wearing VF until the final. I'm sure even with the prototypes Nike is working on now the athletes will still feel their calves are a bit beat up after a 10000.

LOL. Please don't get me started on USADA (Fuchs, Roberts, Rollins, Coleman, Wilson, ....).
Btw, we learned from the Dry case that athletes actually can get banned for lying to a NADO.
Too bad Farah "only" lied to USADA, not UKAD.
"Is it because of my color?" No it's because you're FRAUD and a DRUG CHEAT.
I'm not sure anyone has yet NOT worn spikes for the hour record. It seems odd that given the speeds are getting faster and faster, that road shoes would somehow be the ideal choice, on a track.
These are strange times, indeed.

no
Jesus, are you his publicist? The general populace thinks Mo is amazing. But people that frequent these boards/know about running see that relative to others with similar Olympic and world titles, he falls short. If he didn't want to constantly be left out of GOAT conversations, he should have sacked up and gone for WRs. But he didn't and coming back to try for a relatively soft record is weak.
Besides, he's going after a record that a superior runner set. I think he has the possibility to break it because of advancements in shoe tech, but if he was running in the same equipment as Haile, there would be no way. So I think his potential is due to outside factors, not his own talent or ability

So everyone hates Mo because in his career he raced to win, not to break records, and therefore is "slow" and derided for lack of ambition to be great.
He sticks his head above the parapet for a WR that half the posters here think he's incapable of, others put up reasonable stats that say it will be a challenge and is a tougher record to nail than others think, and he still gets no love and is accused of just being a money making machine.
He can do no right can he?!!?
He should go for the 5000 or 10000 world record on track or the half marathon record on road. Anything else is second class, just like Mo.
What record is this? Is this a half marathon record? I thought Geoffrey Kamworor hold the world record with a time of 58:01? Why is 1 hour a record? Seems like a lot of the Kenyans and Africans can run sub 1 hour half marathon. As for me, I'll take 2 and a half hours for the half. :-)
Only in the UK or whatever that place is called can they create some sort of event with the mighty Sir Mo that will captivate the nation, yet have him run through the half slower than maybe 75 other guys in history, then kick to a time that will be the most amazing thing that has ever happened on earth.
When in reality this is Moen running forever on a track part 2.
Sir Mo, England, and THE HOUR RECORD deserve each other.
Some hybrid like the streaktumbo.
